Milkshaking - doping technique that involves passing an alkalising agent (often sodium bicarbonate) into a horse's stomach.

The object of this practice is to neutralise the naturally occurring lactic acid in the stomach thus increasing the horse's endurance limits.

^ OK but don't take Lasix along with the bicarbonate otherwise you can expect a severe bout of colic.

Orsippus - on his day a decent hurdler from 2m to 2m 5f. Won a Grade 1 at Liverpool a couple of years back and seems to run well at Cheltenham.

Tudor Minstrel often ignored probably because he raced so long ago and didn't stay beyond a mile but he is the joint second highest Timeform rated horse alongside Brigadier Gerard.

Beautifully named being by Owen Tudor out of Sansonnet he was trained and ridden by the legends Fred Darling and Gordon Richards who both called him the greatest horse they had ever been associated with. He won the 1947 2,000 guineas by an official 8 lengths though many described it as nearer 12. He subsequently became a successful sire here and in the US where he sired a Kentucky Derby winner.
