Haafhd - trained by Barry Hills to follow up a Craven Stakes victory with the 2,000 Guineas in 2004.

One of only 6 colts to collect both races since WWII. Other years in which this double was achieved were 1948, 1985, 1986, 1988 & 1990.

Isonomy. The first horse to win the Stayers Triple Crown (Ascot Gold Cup/Goodwood Cup/Doncaster Cup) in 1875, a feat which was not repeated until 1949. His owner kept him under wraps as a 3yo for a massive gamble in the Cambridgeshire at the end of the season which earned him £40,000. Such was his fame he is mentioned in a Sherlock Holmes novel Silver Blaze as an ancestor of the fictional horse.

Japan - despite an occasional tendency to find nothing off the bridle Blackstairmountain emerged victorious in the Grade 1 Nakayama Grand Jump a couple of weeks ago.

The horse got home by a ½ length and won £465,000 for connections in the process.

Charlotte was the first winner of the race in 1814.
