Thanks for that. Have just watched the post-match press questions on the SRU site and there's no mention of Evans there as they pretty much concentrate on the Hogg red card. No mention of Evans on their Twitter account either so I can only assume it's not a major issue.
Hope Tim Visser is back next season and that Ross Ford has found his throwing hands again (or we can find a suitable replacement) as I think his lack of accuracy has led to a lot of lost opportunities and lost possession.

I watched the relevant games today, and was very impressed with the intensity
I still struggle to understand why in RU they transfer possession so readily. the don't do that in RL or NFL so many times it comes back to bite them when teams recycle and score in the last possession. Ireland nearly threw it away close to the end. Arguably RL has higher skills, so they are less likely to drop the ball or spill it in the tackle. Then again RU you have to think about the ruck following being tackled, body position, not giving away a penalty for holding on, so there are extra considerations. Losing the ball in open play invariably comes down to ambition exceeding the ability of the players or their ability under pressure. |

The rugby section in the Sunday Times is beyond awful. Jones is just an old fashioned WUM, particularly against the English, and Stuart Barnes still carries the persecution complex from England clearly not appreciating his skills as a player quite as much as he did.
He's a Welshman who absolutely loves England above Wales. Do you remember his man-love for Courtney Lawes and before that Andrew Sheridan? He used to have man-love for Henry Thomas too, but seems to have stopped that at the moment. |

Does anyone else think the kick off times were strange/wrong for Saturday?
I don't mean that the should all have been at the same time or in a different order, but they all seemed (IMO) to be 2 hours too early. What would have been so wrong with Italy vs England @ 2.30pm GMT Wales vs Scotland 4.45pm GMT France vs Ireland 7pm GMT Is The Voice that important that the 6 Nations fixtures committee bowed to a request from BBC for the earlier times? |

Well what an interesting Championship. Ireland deserved winners and the only six nations team to win a significant game away from home.
Highlight for me was the slaying of the Welsh dragon. Bully boy tactics only work when the opposition are prepared to be bullied. As England, Ireland and any team outside of the Northern hemisphere have shown if you stop Roberts and the round the corner play you stop Wales. Only games that matter between now and the World cup are the games against the Southern hemisphere. Three test tour to New Zealand is going to be a real test......I would be happy with one win out of three......not sure it will happen. |

Congratulations to Ireland and nice to see BOD end on a winning note.
Well played England though - encouraging for the future. |

Stuart Hogg gets three week ban for red card. Quote:
The disciplinary committee said his punishment would have been longer had he not shown so much remorse.
It explained an offence of playing an opponent without the ball should have resulted in an "entry-point of a five-week playing suspension". But it added it had granted Hogg a "40% reduction" in his punishment to "account for mitigating factors, including the player's remorse for the incident both on the day of the match and subsequently through the media". |

Is that fair - was late but doubt there was an intent to harm the player.

Hogg was clearly "pumped up" for the game. |

A step in a right direction I suppose, though a truly radical move would be to reinstate the old knock-out format. That'll never happen though

Saracens squeak past 14 man Ulster, 17-15. Soul destroying
Farrell was absolutely dire which was quite amusing. They join Clermont and Munster in the SF. What a win for Munster that was, irishfeen was probably doing cartwheels

Sky jerking off over "Jonny" again.
Give it a rest guys, there are a few other "big name" players out the pitch too. |

He is an example of the real sacrifices you have to make to be the best. I hope Toulon win it and he goes out on a high but as the Toulon V Lienster game showed it doesn't matter how iconic you are the game has no guaranteed fairy tales. |

Gloucester indefensible - downright thuggery & then insisting on uncontested scrums - surely a big fine on the way?

Funny thing is, I went to meet someone there some years ago and outside were a bunch of rowdy French kids in Toulouse shirts. Is this a known 'rugby hotel' then? |

It's getting tight at the foot of the French Top 14.
Biarritz are already down. Oyonnax, Perpignan, Bayonne and Grenoble fighting it out over the second relegation spot. |

As Perpignan need something from their last game away to Clermont I imagine the fat lady is warming up.
