Well done the Saints - major disappointment for Saracens to be in 2 finals and win nothing.

Irish rugby has just said goodbye to one of the legends of the game.

Enjoy retirement Brian and thank you for everything.

I was at the Prem final yesterday, pretty intense match.

From the stands it was hard to tell whether some of the decision against Sarries were correct, kinda pointless showing partial replays in the stadium IMO.

Not sure either side deserved to lose, but well done Saints

Rugby is all about field position and territory.

Knock the ball on in your own 22 and you are defending an attacking position for the other side, reverse the situation and it is the opposition who are defending.

Whilst it isn't impossible, it is difficult in a game with two evenly matched teams for a team to score a try when they are deep in their own half. It is much easier to score from an attacking set piece such as a line out or a scrum within the oppositions half of the field.

Superb win for London Welsh yesterday. Heart stopping stuff.
Back in the Premiership.

I wonder how the MSC will be changed again for the forthcoming season?

Do the RFU want Bristol up, Worcester up?
It could easily have been Rotherham again, or Leeds, sorry Yorkshire, as they'll be known next season.

No offence to London Welsh, but this is a bad result for the Premiership and English Rugby. A team with a tiny support base in the top tier at the expense of Bristol and Worcester, big clubs in rugby cities. Leeds might not have much higher gates but Yorkshire has always been a rich source of talent.

Sorry to be harsh on LW but it doesn't help Rugby be seen as a big sport and the Aviva as a serious league with such small teams in the prem.

I'm watching the rugby.......

As an occasional watcher of rugby, mainly just England matches, one thing I've noticed is that if you watch a game after a gap of, say, 3 months, half the team are people you've never heard of.........there seems to be a massive amount of 'churn' in the England team

Anyway........maybe it's just me being a pessimist but New Zealand are going to win this, aren't they ?

I'd love to see the stats on how many penalties New Zealand give away when defending their own line
I would hazard a guess it's a lot more than any other team

Guess they would call it professionalism...

15 to go and we lead by 3

Come on England

This is the period in the game when the pundits said that the All Blacks would dominate

5 mins to go and 14 man England are all square at 15-15

Great effort

Edit. NZ forego a kickable penalty and run the ball and we have a TMO......

The usual selection from Saracens and Northampton players are not involved due to playing in the Premiership final last weekend so its a "weaken side"

Regardless of the score its certainly given the management some options and its a credit to the England guy that have they have taken their chance.

People will say the All Backs were below their but guess we made that happen...

EDIT: Shame - lost it in the last minute.

TMO was no try but from the resulting scrum, Conrad Smith goes over in the corner in the 79th min

Is it still the same format of the top teams and 2 best runners-up going through?

Leicester will be keen for revenge against Ulster.

I wouldn't say Worcester were a 'big club in a rugby city'.
Bristol yes, but Worcester not so.
I remember Worcester coming through the ranks in a similar way to the then named Penzance And Newlyn, i.e. on the back of a millionaire backer, who in Worcester's case, has hung around.

If I was to think 'big clubs' in 'rugby cities' up in that area, I'd think of Coventry and Moseley.

London Welsh still have a good support in the south West London area and are doing some excellent work in the Oxford area. I know that when LW were first promoted, Chinnor RFC were very pleased, as there'd be Premiership rugby in Oxfordshire.

If we went along the route of 'big clubs in rugby cities', then the premiership might as well be ring fenced, or even franchised.

The difference in the 2 teams

New Zealand take their chances and we don't take ours

Half hour to go and it's 13-18
