Well done to the English girls, though that was clearly a hapless performance from Ireland - looks like they froze on the day, but England were still very impressive in the clinical way they went about things.

The final is a hard one to call. Two very strong sides and certainly the best two in the tournament.

whatever happens on sunday, these women have shown that they have far more drive than our joke of a men's football team, they play to win, not for their next paycheck.

They are probably just a tad better ability wise anyway to compete with the best in the relative competition.

After all the ladies did reach the last World Cup final so must have been pretty confident and had expectations to achieve as they have.

With a few expectations most didn't hope for much from the footballers (Premier league comes before country I reckon for most of them)

Congratulations anyway and hopefully they can finish the job.

They are going to trial some potential new rules

Aug 13 (Reuters) - Penalties and drop goals will be rewarded by two points rather than three as part of a raft of experimental laws to be trialled in Australia's National Rugby Championship (NRC), the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) said on Wednesday.

The NRC, which aims to give Australia a third tier competition to mimic the success of New Zealand's National Provincial Championship and South Africa's Currie Cup, launches next week with nine teams involved.

A public consultation exercise elicited proposals for "law variation and interpretation changes", which were reviewed by a panel including Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie and one of his predecessors, Bob Dwyer.

The conversion after a try, which currently earns two points, will now be worth three points, while time limits set for scrum formation (30 seconds) and penalty kicks (45 seconds) are among the 12 changes to be tested.

I think this will encourage teams ( especially New Zealand) to concede even more tactical penalties near their own line

I quite like the 2 points for a successful drop goal & converted penalty, but not sure about 3 points for a successfully converted try, makes scoring tries more valuable. I'm not sure about time limits for scrum formation & penalties either, i would automatically stop clock as soon as the ref awards the scrum or a penalty.

I agree that making the try worth more is a good ideabut the cynic in me makes me think that there will be more tactical penalties given away

It was a brilliant winning try !

Canada huffed and puffed a lot but England were the better team......Canada didn't really look like scoring tries whereas we did

Well done England (Welsh rugby fan). Watched it last night and it was as exciting and as entertaining as the men's game. In fact I've seen plenty of 6th Nations that have been duller! Was able to wind my daughters up too by saying that play was suspended to attend to a broken nail

I would also like to add my congratulations!

I wonder if they will get an open top bus parade like when the men did, when they won their World Cup? They certainly deserve it!

Well done to the womens team, great performances all round.

Shame there was no highlights on FTA telly, every bit of exposure for the game is a good thing.

It is good to see them on the front covers of a few of the major newspapers today!

Well done girls, unfortunately they didn't get either the TV or News exposure they should of got. Yet a footballer, who played for another country, doesn't even play in the Uk anymore, bites another player and we've had endless coverage as if it was major news.

I'm not really having a go, but the rugby commentary ( or even football) by female reporters seem to just shriek when it gets exciting - it's piercing and uncomfortable. Not being sexist, just telling it as it is.

Football will always be king in this country, it's just what most people want to hear about.

Unless England count as a team from the Commonwealth Games, or Team GB from the recent very successful European Athletic Championships, then England women should indeed win that category.

I was lucky enough to be out in paris for the womens world cup and got to see 11 games including the semis and final. All for less than the price of a 2015 RWC ticket.

Was a great tournament very emotional final.
