Gatland is a very wily customer and you'd have to say he got his tactics spot on

The same was said of England two weeks ago. A loss before the World Cup isn't such a bad thing.

Wales' defence was just outstanding but Ireland's attack was woeful. As one dimensional

England now are certainties for the championship

Again ...... Wayne Barnes is not my favourite referee, in fact I am surprised it was such an open and running game with him in charge.

What a superb second half of rugby, well played by both sides.

Well done Wales, now come on Scotland.

So what are the odds on England stealing this on points?

Franky I'm exhausted.

Brilliant, intense second half. Amazing defence by Wales. Unlucky Ireland who never stopped. Am going for a lie down for half an hour before cheering on Scotland. Welsh underdog mentality. And it's England!

(Tongue in cheek, English FMs.)

It did seem like his heavy-handedness on infringements in the first half might have contributed to a superior second half.

Long odds-on, they're certs

They could put 50 on Scotland here.

It's rare Scotland take it to England so I'm not expecting them to do any differently here. The best I can hope for is for England to win by less than twenty.

Ha ive calmed down now but god Barnes getting some doing on Irish forums I won't put up the worst ..

Quote:
“Ref should be drawn and quartered

Disgraceful”

Quote:
“How many games can that ref get away with? Consistently poor refereeing game after game.”

Quote:
“We made a lot of mistakes, but in my view, Barnes kept Wales in that game at crucial points.”

Quote:
“Did Barnes just forget to referee scrums? He's an excuse of a ref.”

Couple of big reffing decisions at the end but as I'm Anglo-Welsh I'm not complaining.

You have a lot to learn about the game and defence if you think getting a drive on guarantees you a score.

I'd also take you back to the pen that shouldn't have been awarded against Liam Williams. Ireland would've been more than two scores behind if that wasn't given.

Not forgetting Halfpenny's relatively easy conversion miss.

Schmidt certainly has work to do now.Gatland varied his tactics enough to cause the Ireland coach problems that other opposition haven't got the better of them with.

Of course, he disguised the fact that he was on Wales' side by giving a penalty try against them and two yellow cards.

If there was any way Barnes nobbled Ireland today then it was by refereeing the ruck properly.

Barnes had nothing to do with Ireland absolutely butchering a try also with about 12 welsh lads under the posts and Ireland had lads queueing up on the open side and still can't let the ball out

Ireland's attack was embarassing

There was absolutely nothing wrong with Ireland pushing through and in fact the ball ended up under the Irish players, in fact during the last scrum, he tells phillips to put it in straight and he puts it into the backrow even before Ireland push them on...he mentally does not know how to ref a scrum...

He calls it that Ireland have not pushed straight but how can you push straight when Wales fall to their knees at one side?? What are Ireland to do? not push on and just give wales the ball? .. fine lets go for uncontested scrums if we want that..

Leaving Wales still in with a chance? Pfft! Would rather see England win the Championship than Wales.

Ha no it wasn't embarrassing - this was Wales , a very good team!

Plenty to learn for Ireland, no shame in losing in the Millennium..

Wales a far better side than Ireland today, and Ireland had the benefit of two yellow cards for wales and a penalty try, and the momentum change from the Samson Lee injury.
Wales were simply better and Ireland`s decision making at key times were questionable.

You know what taking the pressure off Ireland going into the WC is no bad thing... scrape a championship next week with loads of questions hanging over us and i'll be happy

Butchered two certain tries. They had lads queuing up outside on two occasions with all the Welsh drawn in

4 tries in 4 matches and one of them was Italy. The try v England was purely a speculative kick through with the benefit of a penalty to fall back on. Just no creativity

Well, it's not happened very often. TWO good teams produced a cracker...

Will watch England v Scotland and see how it goes. I fear for Scotland; hope it's a contest.

Ya but I never said Wales were not the better team but sometimes the better team does not always win - we could have drawn that match today if the ref didn't balls up the scrum in the last few seconds..

Wales deserved to win for that defensive performances alone.
