In any line of work there are conditions of employment. I imagine if I was convicted of drink driving or had headbutted someone, regardless of my ability to do my job, I'd not be in said job for much longer.
The domestic league thing I think IS a bit petty - but then that's the problem with modern professional rugby where the money men control the leagues AND the international sides. Lord knows the Welsh boys are testing "Gatland's Law" to the limit of its credance lately.
Also, this is RUGBY, not football. We have standards. Our players are expected to be role models, both in off-field behaviour and on-field discipline. Given the antics the last bunch of English hooray henries got up to in New Zealand (jumping off boats, going to strip clubs etc), it's no wonder England have a zero-tolerance approach to wankeritis this time round.
