Do you think? I'd be surprised if he manages more than 60 minutes every 2 weeks. No doubt the man brings a world of experience which Itoje et al will benefit from hugely but I think he'll be more like when Schmidt came. Great to see him in the Prem though.

Ah here steady on, Burger still has plenty to give at the top level! extremely fit and agile and was SA's best player in the World Cup for my reckoning. He's only 32 and is a young 32 at that- he basically missed the whole of 2012/2013 so has pretty much relaunched his career again

you make sound like a him washed up has-been in his 40s! I'd go as far as saying it wouldn't overly shock me to see him at RWC 2019 tbh, look at how well all the Toulon pack have done in recent years, most of them well in their 30s

Haha, fair point.. you know what he's had a bloody hard paper round! He looks about 35.

Gonna be incredibly interesting to see what squad/team England go with

Goode, Ashton, Daly, Joseph/Barritt (in truth no-one is putting their hand up here even Burrell could sneak in), Nowell, Farrell/Cipriani, Simpson/care, Mako, George, Cole, Launch, Kruis, Itoje, Clifford/Kvesic, Billy would be the form club team, though leaving out Brown and Watson is tough

Will he pick Hartley despite the fact he's being kept out of Saints team? If not, who is captain?

It's all very interesting, that said there really is a 6n for the taking this year, play Ireland and Wales at home. France are in disarray for a few years, Wales take too long to get going, while Ireland's club teams are in awful form and really got knocked back down to earth in the RWC

Daly has been brilliant for us this season, he deserves his chance in the full England squad after being ignored for RWC.

I said him at 13- the brackets are in relation to the 12 shirt

In fairly astounding news, Andy farrell has now become Ireland's defence coach!

Fair to say no-one saw this coming. don't know what to make of it, I've always thought of him as a bit of a spoofer if I'm honest, but on the other hand maybe they need someone who won't suffer fools gladly in the set up?

the fallout from the world cup must have been a bit much for him, he could easily have gotten a club gig in England you'd imagine if he hung around. Hard to know if he'll go on to anything bigger over here, he seemed fairly settled in South England and has young kids now. Maybe he has one eye on the Leinster or Munster gig?

Expected England 6n Squad

Tom Wood, Geoff Parling, Brad Barritt, Ben Morgan all set to get the axe along with no places for Danny Cipriani or Matt Kvesic

Very exciting looking squad though. all those 4 dropped aren't related to international quality players tbh bar Morgan, who spent most of last year injured.

Good to see Ashton and Tuilagi back

papers were wrong Tuilagi loses race to be fit and kvesic gets in over frazer. tom youngs misses out. very surprised simpson is dropped- only two scrum halves picked

exciting squad though

Think we'll see this for Scotland game

Brown; Watson, JJ, Farrell, Ashton; Ford, Youngs; Mako, Hartley (c), Cole; Itoje Launch; Robshaw, Clifford, Billy

Though he could put Lawes in for Clifford and move Robshaw to openside.

I'd have Care and Daly in my own team though

That goose is probably cooked at this stage . Faz is playing too well at club level for arguably the best team in Europe, while Ford is the future.

Shame for Danny but his goal-kicking is probably what lets him down

I think Joe Simpson is probably the main one who can count himself unlucky. There's probably no real point in bringing Tom Youngs as a 3rd choice, LCD is far younger and a brighter prospect

I hoping that Joe will eventually force his way into the squad, it such a shame that he's been overlooked for so long. How he went from being part of 2011 RWC squad to being ignored is a mystery to me.

I feel bad for Cips, as he does offer something different for England team. There's still an outside chance for him, but it does look very unlikely. Also I wonder if Eastmond will ever be given another shot?

I think we're more likely to see:

6: Robshaw
7: Kvesic
8: Billy

with Clifford on the bench as he can cover all 3...

I've no clue what he'll go with in the back as he's definitely his own man there, although his MO is to have a large outside centre and a ball playing inside.

Kvesic only made the squad as an injury cover though?

I'd love to see an age profile of that squad and how many are born in the 1990s!

Now that would make people feel old

I wonder when we'll see the first capped 00s player at international level

Fk it I'm bored! Top of my head I make it Lawes, Youngs (both 1989 I reckon as played under 20s in 09), Hartley, Cole, Ashton, Care, Robshaw, Haskell, Mullan, Thomas, Brown, Goode as the only ones from 1980s!

True, smart money now looks to be on Haskell being given a shot at 7 with Jones saying they need a short term solution as there isn't quite yet a long term one there...

Good win for the Ospreys - French teams not having it all their own way this season.

Ashton cited for an apparent eye gouge. If found guilty he's a very stupid boy

I guess his loss would be Roko, Yarde or Nowell's gain!

Ashton gets 10 week band, ruled out of 6N

He can appeal and no doubt will, general conscious seems that it's a bit harsh.
