Two surprising results this weekend.
Germany best Portugal in European Nations 1a
Brazil beat USA in American Championship

Is this further support to the belief that during Autumn Internationals Teams like England Saxons should play developing nations?
Or as England wanted in the 2015 RWC to hold a plate event for other nations?

That was not a full strength Irish side that Wales played in the first match. They may have lost more players since, but that doesn't mean they started the tournament with all their best players.

Anyhoo Mike Brown isn't cited for booting Conor Murray in the head , which I'm sure will delight both Welsh and Irish fans.

Anyone who thinks Mike Brown should be cited has either never played rugby or has ABE glasses on. Was it reckless? Yes, was it deliberate? Not even close... he makes contact with the ball on every kick.

Some of the anti-english sentiment in here is petulant and embarrassing and the kind of stuff I expect from Football fans. I was always brought up as an England fan to love the game and be respectful, not hate teams/players for the sake of it.

England deserved winners, outplayed Ireland for the majority of the match and played 20 minutes with only 14 men. The subs continue to impress with their impact, Maro so powerful and already contributing and Billy V with 92m carried is unbelievable.

Let's not get away that Ireland massively under strength, SOB on his own would have made a big difference, Sexton still below par also. Ireland v Scotland will be a cracking match.

Onto England Wales, going to be very close, you'd think home advantage for England helps but Wales beat us with a great last 20 minutes at the RWC. The packs are so even, Biggar seems to really up his game for the big occasion and I think midfield is where it will be won/lost. I'm excited and nervous already.

I assume that it will be the midfield which may well be the deciding factor. England basically have to repeat what they did to Ireland, pen them in their own 22, but stop giving away stupid penalties when there's no need and try to come away with at least 3 points every time their down in the Welsh 22.

Wales at the moment are playing a very boring, predictable style of Rugby, although it works. England just need to bring their "A" game and I think they may well do it, especially at home.

They beat them last 6 nations, and basically gave them the win in the WWC through some stupid play and letting Wales think they could win.

I just hope Eddie Jones doesn't change the side to face Wales, there's no need, and it was proven in the World Cup, you can't just switch players in and out for no good reason or just to counter an opposite player. England just have to stick to the team that faced Ireland and just "up their game".

Banning tackling in school rugby?

Really? Teach kids to tackle properly and they won't get hurt. The only time I was out for the count was as scrum half going round the blind side after losing the scrum ball and running head to head smack into the opposition fly half running round that way. He was the one with the tennis ball sized lump on his forehead. They hardly noticed that I had been also counting stars which I guess goes with the turf of teenage facial transmogfrication between ugly kid and ugly young man.

Let's be brutally honest here, this is a nonsense sport that should be stopped altogether, so any small step towards that suits me. How in 2016 players don't wear far more protective clothing is beyond me.

Would suspect it'll happen in the end though. The more becomes known about concussions/CTE the more likely the schools will not want to deal with potential lawsuits over concussions. We are in a different world on this issue than we were 15-20 years ago

Because as American Football shows, even with protective gear you still get injuries. At the moment in Rugby you get say a head versus another part of the body. In American football you have a sold helmet impacting on various parts of the body, I know which one I'd prefer.

And you'll probably find there's more actual serious injuries (not talking about cuts etc) in football than rugby. Horse racing is a far more dangerous sport too, do we ban those.

Brookes will be the undisputed first choice TH in the not so distant future

Really good player! Could have declared for Ireland

22 in the squad.. so Manu to bench instead of Goode?

I wouldn't have dignified that rubbish post with a response tbh, but you're dead right with the above anyhow!

Depending on what happens this weekend (and I wouldn't be 100% surprised if Cockerill says he's injured after Leicester's match), then you'd expect Manu to be on the bench at least.

Also hope that Jamie George steers clear of injury, as we'd be left with LCD on the bench (which is a bit of a risk for a new(ish) cap).

I think Brookes could be more vital than Manu here. Cole has played all but 11 minutes of the 3 games so far and we know whilst he's made a few steals he's given away a lot of penalties and has looked tired in the last 20. Brookes on at 50 for his ball carrying and scrummaging could keep us in it.

What are people's thoughts for the game? Two very evenly matched packs, I think when Tipuric comes on it could change everything, he's very dynamic.

My main concern is turnover ball, something of which Wales are very good at

Much as it pains me to say it, Wales have a better side. They are also more settled and have better understanding of what they want to do during a game.

However I will never say England are not favourites at home (even if the form book suggests otherwise). I think a lowish scoring game that will be won by England by no more than 3 points.

I see Eddie the ocker has broken his media silence in an impressive way. By mentioning how Wales always scrummage illegally

I'm really looking forward to this game as a Welshman and he's managed to get me more excited.England do have a real character of a coach now and I think the tournament is better for it. Hope he's not smiling on Saturday though
