I like Goode at FB, think he brings something extra which Brown seems to be lacking. Watson would be interesting.

Wales trounced by the Chiefs this morning 40-7
Fifteen changes from the first test last week but Waikato had all their NZ squad players and several more missing.
Combination of Gatland stubbornness with keeping his coaching team the same for years. Plus lack of funding for the regions and grassroots has meant the lack of strength in depth has finally caught up with us.
Heavy defeats in the 2nd and 3rd tests could end his chances of being Lions coach next year.

Surely if there is any way the Lions can get Eddie Jones they will do that now anyway.

I'm iffy about having any Kiwi coach the Lions on a tour to NZ anyway, but Gatland has had his turn, his team is not doing well at the moment, and it is time for someone else to have a go.

Jones has already said he doesn't want the role as it means taking an entire season off from the England job. Joe Schmidt is a strong contender too after two Six Nations titles and a first win in South Africa against the Boks.

Despite recent Wales form, Gatland is also still a strong contender having won the last tour to Australia.

The england team is a bit harsh on Yarde who has been good in the last couple of games. But Nowell is a better all round player than Yarde so it makes sense. Im not a fan of having 2 locks on the bench but it has worked for Eddie Jones so far so what would i know!

With regards to the Lions coach i wouldnt be surprised to see a former northern hemisphere coach take the job. Coaches such as Declan Kidney, Stuart Lancaster and NIck Mallett wouldnt surprise me too much. Weirdly i wouldnt be surprised if they went for a coach such as Heyneke Meyer comes in to fulfil the role. Gatland is of course the other option as alluded to but after he had to return to coach Wales during his year off i doubt he would want to do it again.

10-3 with another Cruden pen, 31mins.

NZ in attack is like watching any other team with the fast forward button held down.

Aaron Cruden down with a nasty looking neck injury. Clock stopped in the 33rd minute.

Well worked try for Alun Wyn Jones right on half time.

Biggar gets the con

10-10 at the break.

Another great game so far between these two teams.

Good try by Alun Wyn, nice to see the old man is still up for it.

Crawling commentary from Ieuan Evans but hes the one down there.

We've benefitted from Cruden going off injured but Patchell has given us another attacking option from Full Back. Bit of an evolution from traditional Gatlandball on this tour so far.

Patchell is a player where anything can happen ?

Liam Williams had a good chance there but softly chipped the ball up better to grubber it along the floor and see what develops.

Tackling the player in the air ought to be a yellow card for the New Zealand player. The ref sounds increasingly dodgy.

Another shocking decision going the way of the SH team.
Liam Williams jumping for the ball and Naholo also in the air takes him out with no attempt to get the ball.
Just a pen Garces says as ' he landed on his leg'
Bottled out of a big decision then

Toby dropping a simple pass and then misses a tackle, seems hes running out of the necessary quality to play a tough side.

There's an NZ try.
Ludicrous passage of play in the build up. Defending our line and the ref gets in Johnathan Davies way. Luckily Warburton gets an intercept but Faletau drops the pass. I counted two Welsh players being held back by the shirt as the ball went backwards.
NZ counter and score, breathless stuff.

NZ have taken the impetus but the lack of a yellow card has lifted them.

Another try and game over.
I'd happily never play these again.

Hope England and Ireland get reffed fairly later on or at the least get far enough ahead so the ref can't influence their results.

They're conning the world with their cheating antics. Its New Zealand playing their game and no one gets in the way of off the ball stuff and violence thrown in. Winning is everything and who cares about reputation. F - them.

It is also our lack of composure but Naholo has just checked Williams off the ball again and it's only a pen.

Pathetic line out and defence from us now makes the scoreline wider.

Lions will have our work cut out next summer.

Agree with all that MV.

Garces was the NZ b**ch for twenty minutes after half time.

Fine solo try by Liam Williams , took it on by himself and got in there.

Then another slightly laboured effort through 3 different players but Johnathan Davies finished it off.

Makes you think about that vital decisive yellow card now.

I think there was even a case for a red card if you consider that's what Stander got for Ireland last week.
Us Welsh will no doubt get told we're blaming a ref too easily again. Our line out went haywire again though and they took advantage of that with fast turnovers. I genuinely think we would've won if Naholo had left the field, even for only ten minutes though

One last game of this monster season that started with the World Cup warm ups for some of these players. Positives today have been the spirit, attacking nous and Patchell at 15 looks a find.
