52 points in the end. Halfpenny, Sexton, Croft, North, O'Brien and Heaslip impressed, Tuilagi and O'Driscoll worked well together. Other than that I'm not sure the game told us a lot.

Aussies seem to want to put out weak teams, makes sense then the Lions come into the test series unprepared for test match intensity.

Yes it was a great win but lets have a reality check: The best players from Britian and Ireland beat a 2nd choice XV of the team 3rd from bottom team in the Super Rugby competition.......Don't get to excited yet kids.

Croft? Apart from his wing play he did nothing all game. It was only after about 70 minutes that he realised he should maybe do a bit of tackling...a minute and a half later and he's off the field.

O'Brien was a one-man back row at the tackle area today, he got absolutely no help at all from his 6 and 8. Ok, Heaslip was excellent with ball in hand but both him and Croft seem scared of a bit of graft. It's great to have forwards with good attacking instincts but in the Tests first things first you have to stop the other team and win the ball.

The pack today were very ordinary and not many of them apart from Vunipola, O'Brien and maybe AWJ are threatening the Test XV at the moment. 11 to 15 is looking like the Lions strongest area so far. All four centres have looked excellent and all four wings are looking threatening. Halfpenny has just guaranteed himself a Test jersey as long as he can get to Brisbane with two arms, two legs and a head and it's good to have a player like Hogg in the mix too.

I overlooked defensive performances slightly when making those impressions, sue me . To be honest conceding 17 points is disappointing and is definitely an area where the Lions need to improve however I do believe Croft and Heaslip were excellent offensively and this was also commented on following the game. I don't think either will start but they did make an impression.

oh well I was wrong to be so conservative

Hopefully Cian Healy's injury isn't too serious

It looked bad and not only that but I thought that Vunipola was better than Healy in both the tight and the loose when he came on. Then you've got the biting thing which hopefully will come to nothing.

Dan Cole was useless.

okie dokie, if it's just a sprain will his tour still be over?

hopefully Cole was just rusty. I don't think there's much between him and Adam Jones when they're both fully fit

I hate to say i I think Dan Cole has lost form in the tight. Your tight head has to be solid first and formost and Cole has been shakey of late. Jones just doesnt get shoved around and is probably the most important player.

Cole is head and shoulders above Jones around the park but I want a solid platform in the scrum first. Jones will provide that Cole will but not consistanly.

I wonder if Sheriden is warming up?

I think Big Ted flatly ruled out doing the Lions tours, said it was for younger players

Unlike Jonny's denial, I kind of believe him

I heard Corbisiero is fit(ish) but I can't see him getting much chance to get enough match time to challenge for a Test spot. Adam Jones looks to have shoved Paul James off the plane last Saturday so I'm thinking Ryan Grant is probably the best option left.

Corbs has been called up as injury cover for Healy. If he gets banned can be still be replaced?

He really impressed me. I'd have him as a dark horse to start even if Healy remains fit the way he's going!

Early days but on tour showings so far he's got the number 1 shirt. It'll be interesting to see how Gethin goes on Saturday now.

Personally I think Mako would work best as an impact sub coming on after the Aussie scrum has been smashed to pieces and given free reign to cause some havoc. Someone has to win the place off him first though.

Yeah completely with you... Mako definitely benefited from Healey's injury, not that Cian was doing a lot but it gave Mako another chance to shine and fair play to him he took it. I guess some players just really thrive on the pressure.

Best didn't shine as I hoped he would... I think he or Hibbard will start and that will be thrashed out over the coming weeks; Youngs will be on the bench to come on as impact, I don't think he can start as the first half the set piece is so important to set the foundation.

I'd like to see Ben Youngs be given more of a run out... he looked good when he was on yesterday but against bad opposition; please QC is starting for the Reds.

yeah but that was before the tour started, I wasn't sure if only injury replacements could be made.

Does anyone think that Ryan Grant has been hard done by. Don't get me wrong I really like Corbs, but Grant has played more this season and played very well

It seems like they've gone with who they know, rather than who's played the best.

That's been from the very start of the squad selection though... Lydiate hardly played, Warburton played well in 2 games of the 6N... don't get me wrong I love both players and have them in my Test team but they were purely picked because Gatland knew they could play in his style... same with AWJ.

As an aside the team for Saturday looks excellent... I'm very excited for this match.

Game plan: get the ball to whoever is infront of Cooper and run at him. Game won.

Healy cleared of biting

Good to hear, chances are his tour is over anyway with his ankle injury

True regarding the injury but pleased it was cleared... with the incident against England he doesn't want to get himself a rap sheet and a reputation like Hartley has...
