Its even more mystifying. Its not clear if you are just meant to do the moves, or look graceful doing them, or act something too. We don't know what the moves are (spin how often, how, where and do what else , for how long) and whether the music is just there in the background or you are meant to do moves at particular points in it, and end on any particular move with the music. Is speed good or bad, if you do all the tasks quickly?
I think they are stuck on some wrongheaded idea that the show needs to be more credible - Robin is more important, they have a second skater and they have lost their generalist judges. They have been pandering to the critique that expects the girls to do male routines with lots of skating pointlessly , and Robin's marking has become sexist as he expects the same. The result is they are backing off doing some of what they used to and throwing in so called skills tests. They have Jorgie doing too much plain skating some weeks, and too difficult tricks the next, while Mathew is still waiting for a good routine and is now getting the tricks too .Whats needed are some great routines that will require a good standard of skating anyway - if anyone could design one.
