The skills test

I think Matthew deserved his marks and was the best, highest leg and best spin. Jorgie I thought was slightly better than Chico, holding her leg for slightly longer and a better spin. She could have got one 9.5. Jennifer was the least good, but still okay.

I probably agree but I think Chico was better then a point above Matthew and Jorgie in the pairs skate. Is routine was close to perfect and the other two made several errors.

I have to disagree i thought that jorgie was by far the best .. followed by chico and matthew joint then jen. But i have to say i was proud of jen for doing that she has come soo far !

They were all so good, I would have given Matthew and Jorgie 10s and Chico 9.5s, they were just awesome!

I agree, Jorgie even surprised me she was so good,

Jorgie was the best by some distance to me.

Jorgie and Matt both stood out for different reasons. Matt is/was so strong! and Jorgie has such a grace about her, poetry in motion! Chico was also brilliant, and Jen has improved so much, so they all did well!

Completely agree with you. I thought Jorgie was beautiful and so graceful. A lot of people were slating her skating last week and saying she'd be shown up this week in the skills test. Didn't happen. I thought she deserved higher marks.

It deserved at least 1 10 imo .. the fact that she seemed so good and many people agree she should have got the highest score, makes me think it may have been fixed for matthew to be in the final. But i dont mind cos he deserves to be there but jorgie better be there too. If it is a jorgie/chico skate off then i may cry. Because although jennifer has improved in leaps and bounds she is still significantly lower in standard that chico jorgie and matthew !

Why Matthew got higher marks than Jorgie I think was because his spin was more complicated and on the spot, and his leg was higher in the arabesque (if that's right). I could also appreciate his speed over the ice. Jorgie was a bit undermarked though, one 9.5 would not have been amiss, to put her ahead of Chico. I don't think the judges really marked the skills that much on grace and elegance because it is so technical. I loved the length of time Jorgie was able to hold her leg in the arabesque and her effortless gliding over the ice.

Wolfie had great flow over the ice and a great spin and a high leg but,on the latter, why the one-arm-up-one-arm-down stance?-did that have any effect?

Jorgie was competent and presented the moves, especially finishes, well.

It's a simple technical test so the judges should be telling us why they marked down from 10. I counted 5 mistakes by Jen, 4 by Matt, 3 by Chico and 2 by Jorgie. The scoring is a joke this year. Shouldn't be too surprised though, not like itv to try and push an itv actor.

Matt and Jorgie both deserved 10's but I do think Matthew was better. His leg was higher up in his spiral and he did more rotations in his spin (i think). But Jorgie was better than Chico!

I felt Jorgie was by far the best and had great grace and beauty in her presentation.

Chico is my surprise 2nd choice.

Matthew disappointed me with some positions like the
arrowbess (sp) which looked ugly and ungainly. It looked like doing a sideways dive into a swimming pool.
His spin looked very brutish with no grace or elegance.

Jen, of course lagged behind the others in last place.

However, if I were to pay to watch people skate I would
happly pay to see Jorgie, Chico and Jennifer but
not Matthew.

Sorry but Matthew was definitely the best. As it was a skills test & not done to proper music the presentation doesn't really come into it (hence Matthew having a super concentrated face on which he would't have in a normal routine).

You mean an arabesque?

I thought it was pretty close between Jorgie and Matthew. They each brought something different to the skills test. I don't think I would have been able to call it myself. But I am thrilled that we have a final between the three of them. (Matt, Jorgie, Chico - the latter always, always makes me smile).

I love this, had me laughing out loud (in a nice way).

I loved Jorgie as always...she is so gorgeous on the ice and I really hope she manages to win!

The 'skills test' still baffles me I'm afraid!! Am really not sure why they do it as the whole point of the show is dancing together as a couple, so why make them skate on their own?? Don't really see the point if I'm honest!!

How can you dance on ice when you can't even skate properly? Just like how can you run when you can't even walk?

Its even more mystifying. Its not clear if you are just meant to do the moves, or look graceful doing them, or act something too. We don't know what the moves are (spin how often, how, where and do what else , for how long) and whether the music is just there in the background or you are meant to do moves at particular points in it, and end on any particular move with the music. Is speed good or bad, if you do all the tasks quickly?

I think they are stuck on some wrongheaded idea that the show needs to be more credible - Robin is more important, they have a second skater and they have lost their generalist judges. They have been pandering to the critique that expects the girls to do male routines with lots of skating pointlessly , and Robin's marking has become sexist as he expects the same. The result is they are backing off doing some of what they used to and throwing in so called skills tests. They have Jorgie doing too much plain skating some weeks, and too difficult tricks the next, while Mathew is still waiting for a good routine and is now getting the tricks too .Whats needed are some great routines that will require a good standard of skating anyway - if anyone could design one.

Well, at least it might silence all those people who claim that Jorgie can't skate on her own.
