Why is it that Rowetta, considering her numerous stage performance experiences, still gets very nervous, shaky & shows erratic behaviour overall?

And is there some kind of hidden implications on Simon's statement when he said to Rowetta - "You're back to your old lifestyle".

I think a lot of performers always get "nervous and shaky" before they stand up in front of hundreds/thousands/millions to perform, regardless of how experienced they are.

As for her erratic behaviour, I think that is because she is just a little bit kerazee.

Ok, but compare her behaviour to that of the rest of the group who are far less experienced , she of all people, isthe only one who has bizarre way of showing her nervousness. Just an observation.

well all the contestants get nervous.

And in an interview with OK(don't worry all the contestants got interviews) she said shes still scared her x gusband might come to the studio,so that could be one of the reasons she may seem on edge

Because she's mad. She nearly didn't get through the first audition because of it, and nearly didn't get into Simon's top 5 despite her talent.

But surely professionalism has to be a consideration in all this?

I guess that depends on the definition of 'professional'!

Well, if she is nervy, her performances don't suffer. That's professionalism, as Spell points out. You can only admire Ro for that.

I'm sure all of the contestants get nervous. Didn't Simon say something along those lines at the weekend? Also, some of the greatest actors/actresses/singers in the world suffer from stage fright - Barbra Streisand and David Warner just being 2 examples and I wouldn't say that this hampers their performances. Excuse me for being cynical but this just seems to me to be another excuse to bash Ro ...?

and you know what, speaking of her shakiness, she is a very emotional person and having to keep her feelings inside after she sings probably makes her shake also. I know when I am totally excited and i cant just freak out, I shake too.

she has done such a great job of controlling herslef on stage!

GO RO! WE LOVE YOU!!! JUST SING YOUR HEART OUT!!!

It does, but surely only as far as the performance is concerned?

I'm guessing that people like Madonna/Robbie can be pretty flaky before they go on stage/behind the scenes, but people don't normally see that side of them, so they got where they are because they can perform.

The difference here is that we're seeing the backstage stuff. In terms of performance I think she's very professional.

People like Ozzie still get nervous, but they just don't keep spouting on about it like Rowetta does, well what dont she spout on about to be honest

Second, well I thinks she is having late nights, and smoking and maybe not the oridinary sort of fags either, her rock lifestyle is likely to be exposed at some point then maybies you will all know what he meant, plus a drop of the hard stuff, dont take much, and then Sinetta mentioned a few early nights, it was pretty obvious what they were getting at! then of course we get the tears! YUK ere we goes again what a bore she is.

No secret in her own world though as comments made on her own site suggest her lifestyle could get her in trouble and that things could come out that she will not want to...

I agree. Even people at the top of their game get so nervous they need to throw up before they go on stage.

Some people perform better when they have the nerves, so I don't know what Spellbound means when he speaks of professionalisim.

Many actors, comedians, singers, agree that you need to be very nervous to get the best performance.

I can't believe the irony in that sentence of yours.

It would be a scandal wouldn't it? And bring a show with such high standrds like this into disrepute.

No, having a rock lifestyle exposed would be so embarassing for the show producers when they are very busy trying so hard to look for raw talent and X Factor .

Not sure what Sinita was meaning about Rowetta leading a rock style life. In some ways she's a private person and cfor the record, dosn't take drugs. as i've said before, don't beleive everything you hear about her. Ro's Mum

I know I am biased but I could understand it if Ro was performing very badly each week but to me she has been one of, if not the, best! Cue all the comments about foghorn, mad etc (in fact I find 'mad' very offensive, presumably none of the people who are bandying this around have known people suffering from mental illness - there but for the grace of 'god' go all of us). Take Mary Coughlan, she is one of my most favourite performers and she allegedly had to have her stomach pumped before one gig she'd drunk so much but still gave a fab performance! I say allegedly as a friend of mine was at the gig and told me this, but it could have all been a vicious rumour and she was just doing her hair but certainly she has had a well-publicised battle with substance(s). Piaf wasn't whiter than white by any means either or Garland but I still rate them up there way above 99.9% of today's performers. And Rowetta is nowhere near that. Before everybody leaps down my throat for condoning drinking/smoking and drug-taking, some of us do it (though nothing illegal for me of course...) and that doesn't make us Satan! So apparently Rowetta likes a drink and a smoke - big deal. I know Bush won today but I feel like the righteous have taken over the asylum

A lot of performers feel that if they don't get nervous before, it takes the edge off their performance.

Whatever level you are at in the entertainment business, surely nerves will always come into play as you are supposedly only as good as your last performance?

Awww ....poor Marci It must be really hard for you to read people making character assessments about someone you know so well.

Some people here think they know someone just because they have seen them on television.
