Its not relevant to the show does it affect how he skates or performs? No well why is it an issue.

Maybe he would prefer to keep his private life private whatever preference he has therefore it is absolutely no ones business but his own.

While I understand people maybe wondering it is the constant need of people to find out these things and I say that of any show I don't get why it is something that seems to be something that is essential knowledge.

Speculating does not make things an 'issue'.

I dont get why all the time on this site a simple question on someones sexuality gets drawn out into something it isn't and it always gets the same answer of "does it matter"
The op phrased the question around this because as he said" he didn't want an argument" nobody was being offensive or rude just a simple question.Far too Pc at times in my opinon.

I'm not bothered whether people ask a question like that or not but I think others wonder why ask it here. After all whatever others reply it's either only their opinion of whether he is or not or they've Googled it or read it somewhere and if people have Googled it then people may think it would be better for the OP to do the same. I shouldn't really be speaking for others I know just saying why I think some people ask 'why does it matter'.

Actually I do think being gay affects the performance on these shows as it means that there cannot be a genuine sexual attraction between the couple. That is integral to the success of a partnership, I think, and why I dislike seeing brother/sister partnerships in dance, skating etc.

I agree about brother/sister partnerships, but being gay doesn't matter there is such a thing as acting and it may be much easier for the celeb partner if they know it is only acting.

Yes - it was a bit funny tonight when he had to pretend he was a boyhood fan of Pamela Anderson. He was probably more into David Charvet or the Hoff!

I disagree, I think there needs to be chemistry not necessarily sexual attraction. There's a difference imo

It does make me cringe when I see a brother and sister dancing a Rumba or whatever. However, I don't think a sexual attraction is integral at all. I'm sure a huge percentage of couples don't fancy each other, but they can still act like they do when appropriate.

No it doesnt but being gay or whatever isnt sacred and cant be talked about ffs”

I think people get a bit irritated because you never see a thread titled 'is so and so straight' therefore it seems like an issue which does matter.

Anyway back to the OP I would have always assumed so but thats based on no facts what so ever, more of a hunch.

I remember when Dan partnered Hayley and they were being interviewed on This Morning and asked if they had a "relationship". It was all very uncomfortable and I guess I now know why.

I think that's reading a bit too much in to it though,I think people will always say is so and so gay rather than the opposite.I don't think there's anything wrong in wondering about someones sexuality and I doubt the vast majority would hold it against Dan or any of the other pro skaters/contestants anyway

I wasn't attempting to read into it, and I never said anyone would hold it against Dan.
Another poster asked why people ask 'why does it matter?' when people speculate if someone is gay. I just gave my interpretation of why people may ask if it matters. It seems to make an issue where there isn't one.

I'm a gay and in no way offended by this thread. In fact I was wondering the same thing - is he gay? My house mate thinks not. I think so.

Actually I think it's natural to be inquisitive about someone's sexuality. Can't explain why.

I typed Daniel Whiston in google, and this thread was one of the first links that appeared.

Then http://www.people.co.uk/news/uk-worl...3463-22008248/
Hayley's hopes of romance with Daniel Whiston were dashed after she caught him kissing her best friend - when she was a love-smitten schoolgirl.

PS I am heterosexual, and I was born on the Sabbath: bonny, blithe, good and gay.

It isn't an issue, because it's 2013 and we don't need to pretend homosexuality doesn't exist.

What one person is quoted could be rubbish, another vice versa.

FWIW Dan (gay or straight) always manages to forge positive and successful partnerships with his skating partners and always makes a frisson of sexual tension believable to a point much more so than many of the other male skaters. Whether he is gay or not I don't know, but even if he is he plainly 'loves' women (in the same way John Barrowman 'loves' women - he always says he might be gay but he's not blind and attractive is attractive regardless of gender!). A man does not have to be 'in love' (or capable of being 'in love') with a woman to create sexual tension with her! Dan has that gift of being able to connect with women very easily, and that comes through in his partnerships on DOI more so than anyone else.

Why do people always say 'other' team, seems to make more sense if it was 'same' team
