Ban the Banger!

Is it just me or is anyone else truly fed up with the Head Banger, I now think is called so as I feel like banging my head against the wall whenever I see it.
Ban the Banger!
Sorry if this has been posted before.
I've enjoyed this years series overall, but the choreography needs an overhaul.
Also is the Bolero featured this year? Bit fed up of that too.

Totally agree. Especially for the female celebraties.

At least this time she landed on her feet instead of just being dumped on the ice like all previous times, but it isn't dancing, it isn't skating and it isn't even exciting to watch any more.

Absolutely agree.

I don't care whether they land on their feet or just get dumped like a sack of spuds...

It
Just
Doesn't
Look
Nice.

Get it banned, indeed.

I agree that they should get rid of the headbanger.

It might have been a thrill seeing it the first time but has
gone old very quickly. also it does not show much staking
skill (just spinning skill from the male)

It makes me feel uneasy watching it. I did not watch last
nights show "live" due to the headbangers, only watched it
when I knew everyone was "safe".

I prefer to see more skating than the headbanger
gimmicky ratings-grabber.

completely agree.

its not dancing, its just sitting and watching thru my fingers.

pointless, and as last nights performance showed extremely risky if you fancy the possiblitiy of fracturing your skull

op im abit with you too im fed up of the bolero - loved it initially but i just think the programmes due a change

Which is why I watch on catch up when I know everyone is safe, it used to be exciting but now it is boring

I hate it too.

And although I loved Bolero back in the day it's now been done to death and I think we're due a change even though PS said we're going to see Bolero as we've never seen it before. What does that mean?

Flying?

I'm so glad it isn't just me, most times it doesn't add to the routine, seems out of place and can just plain stop the flow of the routine. It seems, also, that the anticipation of the HB, seems a distraction overall:yawn:

Nothing wrong with the headbanger. The problem was they got fixated on Robin's idea to make the show look more like professional skating, and took up his wish to see a different, more difficult, exit. Jorgie had a 10 routine without throwing an exit in that no one had ever done before, and Mathew's error was also on that exit. There's no reason to think either couldn't do a headbanger from past series perfectly well or safely.

They have forgotten what the show should be about, by making it about being professional - and allowed that to get in the way of the basic task of thinking up good routines with some wow factor. The result is no wow factor, and too much difficulty for anyone to get right, and too much time spent on what people won't notice much anyway.

But a move that might have been a wow just becomes meh if it's repeated too much and that's the problem T&D would be better off coming up with something different which would have the wow factor but which is new so would increase the impact rather than ..Oh Jorgie does the headbanger which Clare, Suzanne, Bonnie, Laura etc. have done

And i think i speak for everyone when the male celebs doing it is just too uncomfortable to watch & am worried one of the female pros will get seriously hurt one day. The male pros like matt have the ability to save it if there is potential for it to go wrong like he saved jorgie on the landing but the novice male celebs simply don't have the skills or experience to do that.

I used to think the headbanger looked really daring till i saw fred and mel do swandives!

Also i like the one that the pros do where the man throws the woman and she spins round and lands on her feet.

One of my fave ever routines was one Alex & Lucasz and Jodeyne & Sean did their pro routine on tour last year, they were amazing!

Sorry. I thought this was a thread speaking out against Katarina. My mistake.

A throw loop?

You know, I genuinely would like to see the better contestants attempt proper jumps (either themselves or throw jumps with their partners), or even just for the pro's to have a jump or two incorporated into the routine (That pro Victoria, threw an axel into her an Tim Vincents routine a few years ago did one).

Also Chris Fountain attempted and managed (just about) an Axel so it's possible.

I'm not suggesting celebs attempt Axel's but at least a few half decent looking jumps; while messy Chris Fountain's attempt gained a lot of respect from me and I liked seeing him attempt it.

Throw loop sounds about right.

I agree with the jumping, would like to see more spins too.

The pro skaters are amazing, i never thought anyone would top fred and mel but a few of the new couples are easily as good.

I agree about the jumps - an Axel is probably too difficult for the celebs to learn properly in the time available (hence even Chris who is probably the most naturally talented celeb on the ice we have had couldn't do it properly) but I'm sure they are capable of more. Even I can do a toe loop and I'm sure the better ones could do a loop or maybe even a flip jump)

I wish instead of doing the skills test last week we had had a proper solo routine instead as last year. Matthew is capable of so much more than that test IMO

I think a solo routine would be great
