I am off to America very soon and plan on eating out at as many fast food outlets as I can in Florida!

Top of my list is Wendys, cannot wait to try the 3/4Ib Daves burger! The KFC Double down looks awesome!

I plan on one fast food outlet a day as part of a controlled diet

Rate em up if you have been there!

Wendys
KFC
McDonalds
Burger King
Taco Bell
Arbys
Chick-Fil-A
Hardees
Dennys

If you have been there rate them! Many thanks.

Wendys 4/10
KFC 7/10
McDonalds 2/10
Burger King 6/10
Taco Bell 4/10
Arbys never been there
Chick-Fil-A never been there
Hardees 4/10
Dennys 6/10

All the ones I've been to are pretty awful apart from KFC. If you're looking for quanity over quality you'll be happy though.

Wendys - Best by a mile....and they do root beer
Burger King - Pretty good....much better than our BK's.
McDonalds - Again, much better than our McD's...different menu items too which are always fun.
KFC - Wasn't overly impressed...found it really greasy. It was a Southern State (North Carolina I think...maybe Georgia) I had it in and it came with a "biscuit" instead of chips, which I'm not a fan of. A "biscuit", for those who don't know, is a kind of scone type thing.
Taco Bell - Again, wasn't overly impressed but that may have been because we have such a good burrito bar in Belfast which I go to regularly.

Never been to these....
Arbys
Chick-Fil-A
Hardees
Dennys

Don't know if there'll be any near you (from memory there are a good few in FL...but that's mainly from driving down Interstates and seeing them on the Exit signs) but try Quinzo's Subs if you can. Like a posh (and much, much, much better) Subway.

I hope these aren't the only places you're going to eat as you'll be missing out on some amazing restaurants. I went to America a couple of years ago and enjoyed some stunning food in some fantastic restaurants. Surely McDonalds, Burger King and KFC can't be that much different to here.

They aren't. I would agree, though, don't just confine yourself to Fast Food as there are a lot of amazing restaurants in the US that you'll miss out on.

I've mentioned here before, I spend a lot of time in the US with work so that's why I've gone to a good few of the places. That said, I don't go every day when I'm there, just been so bloody much that I've at some point or another been in most of these places.

Denny's do a nice breakfast, a couple of the others are good for a quick lunch. But there are some amazing places to eat in Florida, would be a shame if you didn't visit some of them.

Wendys - Pretty good. It was very common for children to get a frosty, and dip your fries in the frosty.
KFC - Popeyes has better chicken.. but KFC's mashed potatoes and gravy are the best.
McDonalds - Tastes the same everywhere.
Burger King - Dry.
Taco Bell - Super cheap food. Del Taco is better.
Arbys - Really tasty, the arby's sauce is epic, and order potato cakes when you go, not fries.
Chick-Fil-A - Good chicken sandwiches, and the cross-cut fries are addictive.
Hardees - (Called Carl's Jr on the west coast), really messy, but good.. but did I mention messy?
Dennys - Moons Over My Hammy... every time.

You left off Jack in the Box and Whataburger.

Wendys: Decent but not great. If you're ever in California In n' Out is the best option for a burger.
Hardees: Substandard on all fronts. Won't be back again.
Chick-Fil-A: Quite good. Much better chicken than KFC in the UK. Highly recommended.
Dennys: There are other similar American restaurants that do it better: IHOP for example.

Never been:

Taco Bell
Arby's
McDonalds, BK, and KFC (not the American versions)

Pretty much everything is better than subway.. it's the mcdonalds of sandwich shops.

Quizno's is really good (unfortunately all the ones near me have gone out of business), however, Jimmy John's is even better.

Agreed...Subway is horrible.

Never tried Jimmy John's. Are they nationwide? Must try one next time I'm over.

Also, whoever said In 'n Out burger has it spot on...even better than Wendy's (and I ALWAYS make sure I have a Wendy's on all my trips.)

Yeah, Jimmy Johns is nationwide. Their radio commercials are great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UB1l4-q47Nc

edit: TV commercials are great too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCH9bDwdNck

I would've mentioned In n Out (there's one less than a mile from me right now), but the OP mentioned Florida...

Wendys - walked in, walked out, didn't like the look

KFC - didn't bother

McDonalds -I'm sure I'm not the only one that had been told that all McDonalds products are bigger in the US, well its a load of poppycock they're exactly the same as here, with all the fast food outlets in the states I have no idea why anybody goes there, there's much better available in America.

Burger King - didn't bother.

Taco Bell - we all shared a selection of mini tacos in there and enjoyed very much'

Arbys - didn't go

Chick-Fil-A - we were all surprised by this place, as someone has already said its much better than kfc here and the cross cut fries would go down a storm here in the uk.

Hardees - didn't go

Dennys - our favourite snack stop off, good service in each one we went in and decent food (6 dollar burger was very good)

To add a couple more if I may:

Five guys burger and fries - burger was great, but don't get a portion of chips each get one between you I can eat but I couldn't get near finishing them.

Bob Evans - The best service we got there, couldn't do enough to help, what we had was great too.

Smokey bones - really enjoyed it in there, the waitress even laughed at my jokes, had myself one of these bad boys for my man v food life moment

Obviously I'm rating these places for what they are, they aren't gourmet restaurants obviously, and yes I did come back a stone heavier. (well...... at least a stone)

Another vote for Five Guys...forgot all about them. Do a mean hotdog, too.

Wendys
- I didn't enjoy it at all. The burger tasted similar to Wimpy and the chips were like KFCs, which I hate. It wasn't awful but with so many different places to choose from I wouldn't eat there again.

KFC
- Underwhelming. The Original Recipe chicken isn't as tasty as ours, which I was gobsmacked over. The menu is also more limited compared to ours, for example, they don't sell full size burgers only variations of the mini fillet. However their wedges which are tossed in the OR breading are amazing. Worth a visit I'd say.

McDonalds
- I love US McDonalds. It is fantastic, a thousand times better than ours. It will take you back to your childhood before we went all crazy over here and started taking out all the 'bad things' that made the food taste so good.

Dennys
- Not great.

You MUST go to Friendlys on i-Drive. I LOVE it. Can't beat a cheeseburger, fries, soft drink plus a build your own ice cream sundae for $10.

Is McDonalds in the U.S. made with a different recipe?

Not true. That's the "snackers" range...they do sell full size burgers and sandwiches.

Apologies, I haven't eaten at KFC in the US since 2010 so my memory is skewed.

Now that I think about it I do remember larger burgers, but initially forgot them as none of them had appealed to me .

I 'think' they still include all the additives, preservatives etc that have been removed from ours here in the UK, which arguably improves the taste.

The most noticeable difference is in the Chicken Nuggets. Ours are 100% breast meat, there's are 100% rubbish but taste incredible.

Right! I'm Canadian and I miss our Fast Food that side of the atlantic... here I go salivating..

Wendys
I personally LOVE their milkshakes and fries! 8/10

KFC
Not really all that better to the UK one. 5/10

McDonalds
Oreo McFlurry! 8/10

Burger King
I don't eat beef but I LOVE their chicken sandwiches, amazing fries and the best ice cream! 8/10

Taco Bell
Delicious if you like that type of food! Worth a try at least once. 7/10

Arbys
Mmm.. I'm sure someone who eats beef would absolutely enjoy here. I know my friends prefer their burgers and I enjoy their juicy chicken ones! 8/10

Chick-Fil-A
LOVE IT! Definitely give it a try! 9/10

I now beg you to try Popeyes! That is the absolute BEST Fried Chicken place, ever! 10/10! Bring me back some... please? lol

Church's Chicken is worth a visit as well! (If you like fried, unhealthy DELICIOUS foods) 10/10

When you go over, make sure you get some biscuits in KFC! The most delicious, fluffiest... oh God amazing!

IHOP - if you are visiting America you must try IHOP (international house of pancakes) - brilliantly gorgeous pancakes.

Bob Evans - you have to try breakfast there - go when you are REALLY hungry and order big!

They do this weird biscuits and gravy too. The gravy is like a white sauce which is a bit spicy. I really like this but it isn't to everyone's taste. You should try it though as it is a bit of America that you just don't get over here.

Finally - if you go to KFC try their mash and gravy (i am presuming they do it in the US - they do it in NZ). Really nice big pot of mash and gravy - delicious.

But as others have said - America is brilliant for food so don't stick with fast food - try proper restaurants. When you do don't feel obliged to finish everything as there will be massive portions. Just eat what you feel like and ask to take the rest home. It is completely normal to do this. People go out to dinner and then eat the leftovers for lunch. They also have a salad course in most restaurants. It kinda comes alongside/just before the main. If you don't want it you can ask for it 'to go' and they will package it up for you to take home - they you can have it for lunch the next day.

I'm surprised 'In 'n' Out' isn't on that list. A Double-double with grilled onions, animal fries and a chocolate milkshake, whilst not exactly healthy, was the best fast-food meal I had Stateside. Plus, they also do Ice Cream Sodas too.
