I'm happy to hear this:

Head of iPlayer David Price said that it is currently working with Microsoft to "ensure" that users will have access to the catch-up service at some point.

I also suggest voting and commenting at the following page to let Microsoft know you would like to see the streaming protocol mentioned in the article supported as it would be good in the long term.

Despite reports to the contrary, the BBC has told Pocket-lint that there are no plans to bring a BBC iPlayer app to Windows Phone.

The Inquirer had reported a Nokia spokesperson telling it that the app - which enables viewers to catch up on BBC shows they have missed as well as live TV - would shortly be arriving on the Windows Phone Marketplace.

However, when Pocket-lint spoke to the BBC its response suggested this was not the case at all.

But as the original post shows, iPlayer will come to Windows Phone eventually, just not in the immediate future.

The BBC has agreed a deal with Microsoft that will enable the launch of BBC iPlayer on Windows Phone devices.

In the next few months, users of devices running Windows Phone 7.5 and the latest Windows Phone 8 devices will get access to the BBC's catch-up TV service.
