I know a lot of gamers would just love Nintendo to drop the whole Wii title altogether, and in some ways I understand. it would be nice for Nintendo to come at things from a fresh angle but I'd much rather they kept the "Wii" name just to annoy these people.

Sorry, guys, the Wii Entertainment System rumour was apparently fake...
I've heard that the problem with the Wii U name is a Trademark issue - Nintendo apparently want to use it, but some other company has a similar name....?!? |

I'd love them to call it just the "Nintendo". I'd love to be able to start saying again, "I'm going to play some Nintendo"

@gaijingames - makers of the Bit.Trip series - tweeted this today about their forthcoming game Bit.Trip Runner 2.

I know it's early days, but I'm seeing a couple of devs state that they're not releasing games for Wii U because they feel they have to make something unique, and IMO the Wii U needs as much third party support and as many multiplatform titles as possible. I really don't want this "it has to be unique" or the "second screen has to have some gimmick" mentality to take hold. |

I'd have to say F-Zero is probably top of my most wanted for the Wii U so i'm pleased there are rumblings of the franchise coming back.
Not a Wii U rumor but also i hear theres a good chance of a new 3DS model being announced at E3. 3DS Lite??? I'd buy that in a flash! |

Nintendo Confirms a new Super Mario game For Wii U - Reveal at E3
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=470461 1) I hope it's not just NSMBMii from last year [AKA I prefer 3D Mario's]. 2) Needs to be a launch title [even if Pikmin 3 is ready for it too, I personally don't care about this cannibalizing its initial sales]! ![]()

Hip Hop Gamer interviews Darksiders II Dev...
I don't normally watch this show, but around 8 minutes in, Dev says that the Wii U is "next gen hardware". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LyZa...ature=youtu.be Let's hope this puts a stop to the "on par" nonsense. |

That interview was good, cringeworthy but good. I think that may be as close as we're going to get from an answer before E3. It translates to me pretty much the same message Epic boss Mark Rein was trying to get across; we're in for a surprise. I honestly believe Nintendo went back to the drawing board to create a piece of hardware that is way more powerful than we a have so far been led to believe, after all to send out conflicting messages and then get a head start on the competition is a wise move. Plus we all know this kind of news will make everyone who was slagging off Nintendo last week magically interested in the machine again ~ (even if they don't admit it) ![]() Surely the mouth watering prospect of a COD, FIFA (or equivalent) title in 60 fps @ 1080p will prove too much to resist??

I wouldn't mind another sidescrolling game if they really made an effort and gave it the same type of visual punch as Donkey Kong Country Returns..or the same quality of animation as Rayman Origins / Wario Land: Shake It... ....but they seem to want to keep the same look (not a good idea when they are trying to push a high powered HD system. The fact is that this and the Mii games really look no different from Wii games outside of resolution..which is hardly going to convince people of the machines power).. Of course it doesn't mean they won't show footage of the next 3D Mario as well. It's highly unlikely they would reveal their big guns prior to the show. They'll want to surprise. |

I'd like to see a new 3D Mario game TBH but I dont see why there cant be both. Where can they go after Galaxy - Super Mario Universe?
What would be cool would be something like Galaxy but with RPG elements like Paper Mario, IMO. |

If a fairly low budget game like Wario Land Shake it can have cartoon quality animation... then it seems odd Nintendo don't put the same effort into the visuals of sidescrolling Mario games. It would certainly excite the gaming press more (who are needed far more in the current economic climate). |

Nintendo have announced that digital downloads of retail games will be available on Nintendo published titles from day 1 of the Wii U. Obviously this also points to the fact the machine is going to come equipped with a HDD, which is good news for those worrying about it.

Unless they've changed It. Reggie already confirmed in an interview that WII U will not come with a HDD.

It will still have some flash memory SD card and external HDD support. However the WII U has gone through 5 hardware changes since E3 so it's possible that Nintendo have added one.
I really hope they have, as with small amounts of flash memory It will only limit dev's and mean more loading times that could solved with install. It would also mean DLC made with small amount space in mind. So really It would unwise decision when It would add very little to the cost and only limit developers. |

Which is sort of good news isn't it as that means your not restricted to a WiiU specific HDD so are free to use one of your own choosing and also keeps initial consoles costs down?
