Reggie has commented on the gampads battery life.
Quote:
One issue on that front that came out of E3 was the Wii U GamePad's battery life — a feature that dominated the early days of 3DS — and in his interview with Kotaku it seems that Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime wasn't keen on being drawn into rumours of three to five hours life in a single charge.
I have to say that, as a company, we are amazingly conservative when it comes to giving guidance on things like battery life. If you go back to the 3DS discussion on battery life, the numbers we gave before launch vs. the reality of launch were very different. So what I would tell you is that Nintendo is absolutely committed to making sure that the battery life for the Wii U will not get in the way of the gaming experience.

Have you clicked pre-order? I'm tempted to, cos the lowest price they advertise it for, is the price you pay, so if it goes up to £250, and stays that way, you still only pay £199.99

What the heck, I did!

The release date I really don't think is right, but Amazon's Price Guarentee Promise has never let me down yet! Roll on £200 smackaroo's!

On a side not, didn't the 3DS cost £250 at launch?...
Hehe, I love when Amazon make an error

£202.02 I thought might as well make sure I get it on release date.

Yep I was expected £279 myself highest £300. reading Amazon T&C don't think they can get out of this error.

Nope, unless they make a public apology, and plan on doing something about it... their hands are tied I'm afraid!!

Yeah, I did the 1st Class post, so it'll turn up on day of launch, so it's set me back £202.02 also. That's £97.98 cheaper I was willing to pay!

I've ordered it too. Wasn't sure whether to get the black or white, but Amazon only list the black one so that's one decision out of my hands

UPDATE: An Amazon customer service representative, speaking to me over the phone, tells me that all information in their Black Wii U listing – including price and date – comes from their suppliers (not the manufacturer). I was also assured that this console is covered by their price guarantee, including the eventuality that the price increases once customers have placed their order (though the on-site guarantee mentions only decreases). This means that if you order a Black Wii U from Amazon for £199.99, that is the maximum price you will pay. Asking for e mail confirmation, I got this standardised reply (which, unfortunately, does not confirm all of the above):

Whenever you pre-order a book, CD, video, DVD, video game or software item from Amazon.co.uk the price you pay will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.co.uk between the time you placed your order and the release date.

Please note that this Pre-Order Price Guarantee applies only to items sold by Amazon.co.uk, and not to items (or prices) offered by third-party sellers on Amazon.co.uk Marketplace or at any of Amazon.co.uk’s Trusted Partner sites or from Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.it, Amazon.es, Amazon.co.jp, Amazon.cn, Amazon.ca, Amazon.com or any of its affiliates.

Please rest assured that the difference will be refunded to your payment card within the next 48 hours. On the date the refund is completed, we’ll e-mail you to confirm the date, amount and payment details. You can see completed refunds when you visit Your Account, after receiving the confirmation e-mail.

If the refund isn’t applied within the above time period please let us know by replying to this e-mail and we’ll be happy to investigate further.

Whilst they have the pre-order price promise they are still entitled to cancel your order.

I wanted a black Wii U!
I'm fed up of my white Wii going "look at me, look at me" in my unit. Still got a white balance board though, so I'll keep all the acessories white

That would beat the whole purpose of the guarantee, as if they carried on selling the item they would not be guaranteeing the price.

Well the guarantee is designed to refund you, or not make you pay extra if they honour your order.

If it is a misprice then they can cancel the order and they don't have anything to guarantee you with!

Until they ship the goods they can cancel without reason, it always happens with the misprices.

Nope, not yet.
One thing that concerns me is that a Nintendo rep has already said they're launching with White so if that is the case then how long does everyone intend on waiting to recieve a Black one for £199.99?

It seems amazon have now removed the offer - but my pre-order's still there.

Yes doing some reading it seems to be mixed bag lot people have had miss prices redeemed, like PS vita games diablo 3. however on some occasion they do cancel.

Reggie said in an interview, they've not decided what would be available at launch.

£199.99 Would be great but I think this is a no go. My guess is that's it's a mis price (the crazy July release date also seems fishy). Unfortunately if it is indeed a mis price Amazon will probably argue they are not obliged to fulfil the pre-order price promise

I wondering if they where testing the demand maybe ? It's reach Amazons number 1 best-seller within only hours of being up.

I believe it is a general distance selling 'law', but "I'm not a lawyer".

Certainly all of the misprices I've managed to bag have never been honoured, including one where they even got to the stage of performing a credit check against me!

I guess if the difference is a few quid they might not worry about it.

Interesting theory about testing the waters re. price.

I suppose we will just have to wait and see on this one.
If it does turn out that they've under priced this pre-order and Nintendo do also launch with black it doesn't necessarily mean that Amazon will stock the black console at launch.
Afterall it seemed odd to me that the black was on pre-order and the white was currently unavailable.
I just wish that Nintendo would hurry up and tell us what we all want to know.

I think It depends massively on how much the console is, if it is £250 I can see Amazon let this slide, if it's more I think It's unlikely. As in most cases the chances are Amazon, shop to,HMV etc and supermarkets will be all going mad and undercutting each other so they will end up selling it near to that anyway.

Amazon clearly stated the information came from their suppliers so is no miss price on there end, It's probably some automated system. Why suppliers decided to update and start taking orders specifically for the black model I don't know. I do think Nintendo will do both models at launch, I'm sure they've seen the reaction the black models got.

Maybe they're out of pre-orders?
I remember I pre-ordered the collectors edition of Skyward Sword last August, and by late September, Amazon had completley sold out on pre-orders, and people were re-selling them for $150 to $250.

Now, this was Amazon US's policy, I'm not sure what Amazon UK's policy is with regards to pre-orders, but I'm hoping mine sticks even through all this

That is there official stance that they stopped pre orders due to high demand.
