Whoever voted for Burke is either extremely ignorant or taking the p1ss. She is an ordinary vocalist, Beverly Knight ordinary. She will never be an international star because of it.

Leona Lewis is in a different league.

Leona Lewis for me. She really has such a rare and powerful voice. Nobody has a voice quite like hers. It's literally like somebody blended all the best parts of Mariah and Whitney's voices together and Leona's voice was born. Nobody can touch a Leona song and make it sound half as good as Leona can. But Leona can cover pretty much anyone's song and make it sound good and sometimes even better (Run). She also knows her voice really well and has great skill and control over it.

People say Leona can't sing uptempo's but she can. She'll never be the type of artist to sing those clubby (and sometimes generic) uptempo's like Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" etc, but she has her own style. Glassheart for example is a great uptempo from Leona.

I don't really like these polls, they always seem to be ruined by posters going into their favourites appreciation threads and telling the rest of the fans to come vote, which ruins it imo.

That's why no one knows it's here Set up in the dark. Folks can vote alone. I'm staying mum.

The poll is asking for people to vote for their favourite, not yours.

Why can't people just respect that these things are subjective and refrain from the need to hurl insults at people whose opinions are different from theirs? If anything is ignorant and taking the p1ss then it's your comments.

I could not have worded this better and I 100% agree with this.

Amy Winehouse
She is undoubtly (is that a word?) one of my all time favourite singers. Two amazing albums. A gorgeous voice that sends me shivers and reduces me to tears. A wacky personality with he beehive hair. But underneath it all, a tragic Icon. She may only have two albums to her name, but she left behind a powerful short but sweet music catalogue. I miss her a lot. I really do. I still haven't come to terms with her death.

She just sounds like a good Kareoke singer, especially when you compare to Whitney!

I can't think of many who are. She takes her influences from literature, politics, nature, death, sex, love, maternal bonding and she touches darker subjects with aplomb. Sorry, but it sounds like Elephant is about some boyfriend. Nothing new there.”

Even though this is about vocals and not lyrics, The Silence which was written from her personal diary entries is a very moving song...the lyrics have a very sad message. The same for Before The Rain, and Alexandra's vocals only serve to make them even more emotional.

I'd say that the only display of ignorance is coming from you.

Might as well retitle the thread "who is the best female karaoke artist" in the UK. Cos thats all that is being measured.

A vocal is as much about expressing an emotion and feeling as it is hitting notes. A voice should be used to make people feel something. And that something should be important not "I like bad boys" etc....

The votes for Alexandra Burke are laughable. Really makes me sad that large portions of this country seem to have become musically "lobotomised". Get something that makes a statement not just the absolutely worthless tripe that comes up on the radio time and time and time again.

Its an insult to the likes of KT, Florence and Natasha Khan to be on a list with some of the other dregs there. An insult.

That's not all she sings about.... Maybe you should listen to more of her music before making sweeping generalisations. She deserves the votes because she is a talented vocalist, simple as that.

Hard to pick but my favs from the list are Alexandra Adele Jessie J and Cher I like most of them on the list though Leona who I use to adore probably has the best voice on the list but for me her material has started to bore me and I have gone off her. I will give album 3 a listen though.

vocals fool. We're on about vocals. And she can sing...and if she's so BAD...post me a clip of you singing Listen better than Beyonce solo? Or Unbreak my heart or Candyman or You are so beautiful? That's right. YOU CAN'T. And Bad Boys is the story of her life, it's not a joke or something. She likes bad boys. Nothing to be ashamed of. Musically lobotomised...you look like a fool. Call them dregs, but those listed can't sing half as well as the others, even quietly. Vote and keep it nice.

@MR_X_123 No offence, but 'imo' i'd not be putting Florence in the same category as Natasha Khan. Shrieking and holloring like Florence does is in no such field as Natasha.

I've never considered Florence a good vocalist either. She's good at wailing, screeching and caterwauling like a dying cat, but singing wise I could never listen to her headache of a voice.

Are we asking who we like the best? or Who has sold the most?

I like one of Pixie's, one of Jamelia's and some Lily Allen.
My favourite from your list would have to be Beverly Knight...although there are other genres and singers who I prefer who are not on your list.

Personally, I have never been a fan of the screechers, belters, wailers and those who insist on ruining perfectly nice melodies with the dreadful 'vocal gymnastics'...yes Mariah et al, I am looking at you. Awful noise...in my opinion.

I also prefer singers who have a lower/narrower range. Singers who sing well and in tune who have a narrow range are better than those who have a 'wide' range, yet scream, shout and / or belt...in my view.
