Great idea for a thread I'll post some of my favourite 90s songs later.

Anything from Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins.

Nirvana's In Utero often gets overlooked because of Nevermind but it's a great album.

Bjork in the 90's was a sight to behold.

Aphex Twin.

Boards of Canada.

90's music is under appreciated but I think in time it will be looked on more fondly like the 80's is today.

My favoiurite track is INSTANT REPLAY ,by Yell! I pulled my first girlfriend at the school disco to this record and we ended up going to see them on the PWL/SAW tour...and they were BRILLIANT and could actually sing live. I was a kid so I was mostly into cheesy pop so here's a few of the songs I liked back then:

Baby One More Time - Britney Spears
Sometimes - Britney Spears
(You Drive Me) Crazy - Britney Spears
Wannabe - Spice Girls
Say You'll Be There - Spice Girls
We're Going To Ibiza - Vengaboys
S Club Party - S Club 7
Natural - S Club 7
Bring It All Back - S Club 7
Say You'll Be Mine - Steps (I hated the group but loved this song)
Flying Without Wings - Westlife (I liked them in their early days)
Sing It Back - Moloko

And some I discovered later on:
Vogue - Madonna
Frozen - Madonna
Ray of Light - Madonna (first heard this in 2001 on the Windows XP advert )
Groovejet - Sophie Ellis-Bextor
I Want You - Savage Garden
Mr Vain - Culture Beat

I might think of more...

Worst thing about the 90's was the cheesy pop and the emergence of all the boy bands.

I wasn't too keen on the boybands really. I liked some of Westlife's early songs and Backstreet Boys' I Want It That Way but apart from that I wasn't bothered. Some of the cheesy pop was good (eg Spice Girls) but there was a lot of tripe too. Aqua anyone?

True, but it shouldn't take away some of the fantastic songs the 90s produced. IMO, the pop was still a lot more creative than it was in the 00s, which was largely dominated with reality tv and x factor created rubbish, particularly in the second half of the decade.

I agree with them... and you just provided perfect evidence as to why they are awful.

Talentless manufactured boybands... everything that is wrong with the music industry lies right there. I think they should all pick up an intrument, write a song and then perhaps people might take them seriously... because right now, they only appeal to stupid little girls.

So talentless you seem to have an obsession them.

So every artist who doesn't play an instrument is a problem?

Obsession? I discuss all music brought up on here... and I don't have posters of any of them on my wall.

I have problems with artists that don't have talent... I don't see the interest in them. What's the fascination in watching someone sing a song that not only not written by them, but they just stand there and sing. I can get that down at my local... it's called kareoke.

Well that applies many artists not just boybands and girlbands.
One of, if not the biggest Whitney songs is a cover version.

And if there is any obsession that I do have... it's probably with The Rolling Stones - Aftermath album. Considering I listed to it almost every day.

I never said it didn't... however, boybands and girlbands seem to be the biggest thing in the industry for that right now.
