fIDDLEsticks I normally listen to that show too. Weirdly, I tweeted Five Live about John and Edward doing the marathon on a whim!

Got to admit its not a film thats top of my list to see. Also is Tara Reid really the star of them - I sort of assumed it was Alyson Hannigan and Jason Biggs (is that his last name? )

It may be on iplayer today, if you want to listen back to it (I fell asleep before the end of the show, but there wasn't much specifically about the twins in the part I heard). I think the text segment was usually just after the news every half hour.

How did you phrase your tweet? It would be interesting to see if they described it the same way as you expressed it, suggesting they did read it and follow up on it.

Just checked it and you're right I'm glad to see it. Hope people will remember them from last year, and I hope they'll also remember that we liked them and gave them 7 points

Yesterday I was talking to another Spanish fan and she told me how great it'd be if the twins were invited to the comedy show so they can promote Waterline and see the fake twins in action It's not going to happen, but we're asking the show to repeat the impression because it was hilarious.

We've seen very little of the twins in southern Europe so far (I think Romania is the furthest south they've ventured).....it would be great to see them on TVE

I'm quite hopeful about Spanish votes this year and they do vote in Jedward's semi

There's a poll featuring Jedward over on the Eurovision forum if anyone can be bothered with it

I can't remember the exact wording without looking but I did tweet as many media type things I ould think off - including radio 1 and 5 - and I certainly used the word whim, which has appeared in several places.

I probably put something like 'have you heard about Jedward running the LA marathon on a whim with no sleep, training ...'

This is just going to go on and on isn't it?

I personally think the guys went down to the marathon, did their J&E thing (eg smiled, jumped around excitedly and said 'we can do this!'), registered on the day and paid the fee (I mean who would turn down $150 x 2 eh?) I think people who don't know their unique spirit and general joie de vivre couldn't really understand that these guys can do anything!

In my limited knowledge I think bibs and numbers for most races may be sent to the participants some time before so they wouldn't necessarily have a bib if they registered on the day..

I already have my race number for 'Race for Life' and it isn't until July and people can still register on the day but online registration finishes earlier...

But then again I could be wrong. Maybe the guys had a magic carpet hidden under their coat tails and whipped it out every now and then - t's not like anyone would notice identical twins dressed in USA swim trunks and coat tails flying on and off the course on their magic carpet

I am sure that if, as is somehow implied in the article, they took a taxi or something... someone would have noticed and called them out on it, esp. after the tv interview... J&E were dressed so outrageously that there is no way someone would not have seen them if they cheated. Regarding the bibs... I have no idea why they didn't have them... most races have extra bibs for late-entries.

Oh, well... as with most things on the planet... we will probably never get a straight answer as to what really happened.

By "bandits", they are suggesting Jedward ran in the race illegally and without registering.

But it's slightly preposterous to suggest that race marsalls should have intervened and forced them off the track. For many of the runners, the marathon is essentially a fun run (though an extremely taxing one at 26 miles). What would happen if a registered runner's number fell off for example? This is not the Olympic marathon and confined to elite athletes only.

San Marino have renamed their entry "The Social Network Song" to comply with EBU rules :

BIB -

Have we seen any photos where the orange/black singlets they are wearing under those blue jackets are fully visible? There's at least one photo after the race where John's carrying one of those paper bibs crushed up in his hand. I just assumed they wore the bibs under the jackets. And that race volunteer who tweeted about them said she saw they were wearing bibs, just ones with no names on them and assumed it was because they were late entrants.

Edit: Here http://www.jedwardgenius.com/apps/ph...toid=151790781 Doesn't the thing John's holding along with the tinfoil wrap in his left hand (our right) look a lot like one of the bibs the other runners were wearing? Maybe not though, I could be overanalysing

It looks like the tinfoil wrap thingys were backed with the logo/colours of the marathon (??) - that might have been what I was seeing in the other photo too.

Wow, just found this thread by chance.

I'm not massive fans but they are just two fun loving singers who look the same and they're good at Eurovision, so why don't people leave them to it?

The amount of flack they get is just not fair by anyone's standards.

Hello Simon and welcome to the thread

Yes, I'm a bit baffled by all the hate they seem to engender. There are a lot of angry cranks attacking their Eurovision entry on Youtube.....what they've done to deserve this is anyone's guess.

Looking at the LA Marathon website, it sounds like registration closed the day before the race and there was no provision for race-day entries. Not only that, but the site notes that if anyone running without a number (i.e. unregistered runners) is spotted, they will be escorted from the run by race marshals.

And if J&E had somehow managed a late registration, surely by now their entry would have been processed and be searchable on the results database. But it's not there.

So yeah, they snuck in and ran without being registered. It was a little naughty, but since when has a little detail like that ever let J&E get in the way of having Jepic adventures?

I love the term "bandits" for unregistered runners!

The rules of the LA marathon state that unregistered runners will be asked to leave the track. I think this is mainly a threat to discourage people from not registering, but that running website makes a good point - if two unregistered runners who stood out as much as Jedward did weren't asked to leave, then it's safe to assume the race marshals weren't actually monitoring it.

About the marathon, the thing that confuses me the most is the volunteer saying that she saw them wearing bibs. If they were wearing bibs they were registered. If they were registered, they weren't registered by their real names definitely. If they got the medals it's because they ran the whole thing, and as Schehera said there's a lot of people who saw/recorded them.

We know they did some parts just walking, we know they sat to stretch at some point, and we know they weren't really running it was more like jogging. John crossed the finish line at 4:03:00 or something which is a decent time but not outstanding.
I don't see what's so hard to believe here. For me they did it.

They main problem is that they're Jedward. Jedward running a marathon on a whim. Every other celeb would be applauded for this "oh so healthy and unexpected decision". But people can't accept that the twins are good runners who lead healthy lifes. Not too many celebs can say the same.

I still think they were registered beforehand. I don't really buy the "we just arrived to our hotel and found out about this craZy marathon"

Thanks for the nice words Simon I totally agree

BTW loved the Celeb Juice challenge, short, but at least both of the twins took part on it

The rules do state that SP but for the non eiite athletes, the marathon is not really a "race" at all....it's simply each competitor against the clock. So forcing runners off the course would really be against the spirit of the event : the so called bandits can't get an official time if they complete the marathon.

Also, the race marshalls interfering in the marathon could be problematic. Some of the runners' numbers could be concealed or even have fallen off.
