What foods did you used to eat during your childhood, that as an adult you've, for whatever reason, not eaten since?

For me it's:

Jelly (was boiling water added to it and then it had to 'settle'?).

Mousse made from a packet (Angel delight?).

Toast toppers (are they still made?)

Potato waffles.

Sherbet, I used to buy quarters of it. I haven't bought it since I don't even know if they sell it like that anymore.

Also, Sherbet Shandies - they were lollipop things on a stick and were yellow or pink. I loved them and would buy them all the time if I could find them still.

D'you mean sherbet dips, Wee? They still sell them in many places, I'm sure I've seen them in Tesco.

No, it I still buy them from time to time

It came loose in jars and they weighed it out for you, it was really sour. It's probably illegal now, it couldn't have been good for a person.

Tinned button mushrooms

Not thought about them for years

Please someone say you can still buy them, they were strangely good. I'll go get some tomorrow if they still do them

Do you remember that orange juice that came in little frozen cardboard boxes, and you put it in a jug and poured hot water on, then waited for it to melt? I never waited for it to melt, I used to stand and poke it with a big spoon til it melted. I also liked to mix it with far too little water, so it came out really thick and sweet. Wasn't proper orange juice in cartons available in the 70s?

I'm going to sound incredibly posh now😖
My dad is a great cook and used to make mackerel in milk, with leek and onion I think. All the smokiness from the mackerel was soaked up by the milk and it tasted delicious. I've not had it in at least 20 years. Just one of many tasty dishes he cooked.

Like others in the thread, I don't think I've had stuff like semolina since primary school, but a few of the others like jelly and Angel Delight I have.

All the really cheap milk puddings that we used to get at school dinners - tapioca, blancmange, sago, semolina, rice

I can't remember which one it was, probably semolina, but I bought a pack a couple of years ago to try it for old times sake.....it was horrible.............
