As for the answer to the question, a lot depends on the quality of the lead single, and streaming of the relevant artists new material but if they all released 7/10 albums then Gaga would win, but in the UK & USA she would get outsold by Adele, and certainly in the USA Taylor Swift would out sell her too on first week sales.”

Why MDOA?

DOA = Dead On Arrival, hence Madonna Dead On Arrival.

Last week he went to one of the exclusive preview listening parties (as he is/was a big Madonna fan, and is not a fan of Lady Gaga to put it politely), but the following morning he spent the best part of the show telling his Radio 2 listeners (to the UK most listened to radio show) what a poor album it is and how "Madonna has lost it", and played a number of tracks from "when Madonna was great" from the 1980s/90s to compensate.

Older members of DS may remember back in the 1990s when he presented TFI Friday and on the Friday of the release of the Oasis album "Be Here Now" he did an Emergency Hospital skit wearing surgeon gowns on the Channel 4 show to point out that album was terrible "it's dead there's no saving it, (then camera pans in to reveal the CD), which was a very ballsy thing to do as it had received glowing reviews from the critics, and sold massively in the first week, yet now both Gallagher brothers have largely disowned their third album.

I am pleased to be able to tell you that my ears and hearing are fine.

Being an owner of The Fame/Monster and Born This Way i am also able to confirm that in my opinion Hard Candy is better than both and i say that as someone who is disappointed with Hard Candy. All 3 albums have highlights but both gaga albums have much more lowlights than Hard Candy. Being someone who does not listen to leaks i have not heard MDNA and so will not comment until i have heard it in full.

I have read some reviews for MDNA. In general i do not take much notice of any reviews, i prefer to make my own mind up about an album once i hear it. Lastly i do not listen to Chris Evans and have no desire to start listening to him.

Let's look at this in the modern day, not in each of their peaks as some of you seem to be doing.
Britney isn't going to outsell anyone... I don't think she's capable anymore.
Katy's not really an album shifter
England loves Riri, but the states haven't started rimming her quite so much yet in the albums stakes
Gaga promotes like her heartbeat depends on it, and markets her releases like huge global events, but the UK haven't been loving her much recently... although she did still have massive 1st week sales
Madonna's yet to display anything in the current market, but preorders of MDNA have been great, however that was before we heard the finished product.

USA would likely be
1 - Gaga
2 - Madonna
3 - Rihanna
4 - Katy Perry
5 - Britney Spears

UK would be
1 - Rihanna
2 - Gaga
3 - Madonna
4 - Katy Perry
5 - Britney Spears

Really, unless Britney gets rid of the Cray-cray, she doesn't stand a hope in hell. She does almost zero promo, her songs aren't up to much (her lead single sucked nuts, but TTWE could've been truly epic)

^ You are kidding about Britney aren't you? In the Uk I think most people on here are right, she should be in the either 4th or 5th position.

But in the US it's completely different! Her last album sold 275,000 copies in it's first week, whereas Katy Perry's Teenage Dream and Rihanna's Loud and Talk That Talk all sold under 200,000 in their first weeks - even though those two are 'hotter' right now, had bigger selling singles, were promoting a lot and were released in a better time for sales in the year. Britney didn't promote all, didn't sell her album for under a dollar but still sold a substantial amount..

How someone can put RIhanna above Britney in the US when Rihanna has never had a US number 1 album is beyond me!

Britney has never had a UK #1 album, so she wouldn't stand a chance.

I'd say
#1 - Madonna
#2 - Lady Gaga
#3 - Katy Perry
#4 - Rihanna
#5 - Britney

It would really depend on singles though. Had Madonna just released a massive hit like Hung Up she would get #1 easily, but if she released Give Me All Your Lovin', then she might have to settle for #2

Gaga would whip their behinds

We don't get these battles anymore

The last female battle I remember was in 2008 when Beyonce, Britney, Christina Aguilera and Leona Lewis released their singles on the same week. Beyonce came on top and scored the #1 spot with If I Were A Boy.

Wish we had more of these battles

Lets be honest Rihanna is bigger than all of them in the UK right now and GAGA is probably the biggest in the US. Britney continues to flop in the UK and for some reason still sells in america so i think most people have put the right orders.
