Maybe its not the artist so much as the song which is quite quirky and rather good IMO.

Because its very different to most of the other songs in the charts. I think the song is pretty good and glad its doing well everywhere

Its a fantastic song and obviously resonates with a lot of people. Who hasn't been through a break up? The lyrics are very well written, it is nicely sung. Good production all round.

It's alright, but I don't think it deserves the sales that it's getting right now. I mean it's probably going to sell close to 'someone like you' which is was way OTT.

As number 1's go, it's a pretty good one. I'd rather have people from abroad look at our number one single and see this instead of something by One Direction or The Wanted.

Better than a lot of Number 1's in the last couple of years, but I'm still not really a fan of it.

Firstly, I know nothing about him
Secondly the song is a real grower, though not with you.
I can easily see how it is doing well. It'll probably be one of the top 3 sellers of the year.

I don't think it would have stood out as a great song from the 80s or 90s, sure maybe a top 5 hit, or even a number 1. But the popularity is largely due to its uniqueness and it being a massive breath of fresh air from all the other no 1's right now.

I always have to turn it off when it comes on the music channels.

I don't particalarly like the song as it is not my type of music. I'm more into electro-pop/ dubstep.

It's refreshing, I can't remember the last time I actually bought a song that was at number 1.

I can't stand it but I'll listen to it everytime it's on as I'm determind to figure out which Peter Gabriel, or Police song, it rips off.

Well no not with me ! I just don't really get on with it. Viewing the comments it seems people like the refreshing side to it compared to countless club songs.

...so then it would be logical to argue that it was just well timed? i also said i liked it because it was different to all the other crap at the minute, and as someone has already said, it wouldnt have done as well in the 90s
