Asda Biere De Luxe appreciation thread

Does anyone else think this is one of the best beer bargains around these days?

£6.05 for 20 x 250ml stubbies of very nice tasting 4.8% vol imported French beer.

Since Cameron started banging on about minimum pricing most alcohol seems to have shot up but not this little bute.

They've got twist off tops now as well so you don't even need a bottle opener. I'm getting stuck right into a few now.

ALDI's comparative is just as good if not better. Not sure of the name but it is the same style bottle with a twist top.

It's not as good in my opinion. Neither is Tesco's

I still think the Tesco Vratislav Czech Lager at 99p for a 500ml bottle is a good beer at a good price.

I think it's decent but they have another Czech one next to it on the shelf that's 4.7% and i think tastes a bit better. Also 99p.

I can't remember the name though.

That's the Boheme 1795.
Agree it's a good beer but Tesco put the price up to over £1 a while back. Think it's in the £1.20 - £1-30 range. Currently unavailable via their website.

I reckon it's the same stuff. The bottles are identical. Tastes just the same too.

Yes, that's the one. I was in yesterday and it's disappeared again. They've had it for 99p in the last few weeks.

The ALDI one is called Brasserie. Not sure if it is the same product with different packaging but it tastes very similar.

Sorry to rain on this parade, but the words 'French' and 'Beer, don't belong in the same sentence.......

Yes, I quite often buy that one, when I'm getting the wine in in aldi.

Le Snob

Amazingly even following the governments latest attacks on drinkers in the budget and media the price is still the same as 2 years ago:

£3.05 for the 10x250ml pack and £6.05 for the 20x250ml pack.

Having visited my local Bargain Booze a few days ago and seen their extortionate prices it seems even more of a bargain!

French Beer

of the top of my head, among others Kanterbrau (gold de Kanterbrau) and Pelforth (Pelforth blonde) are excellent French beers.

I am currently very happy to drink this French beer, and I thank the OP for the tip.

(My wife likes the shandies - panache de St Omer. - 1.70 for 10 dumpies)

Asda used to do a very good 5% vol German beer in a similar 10x250ml stubbie pack but for some reason discontinued it.

Recently had some from morrissons, same bottle (!), but my word, so much nicer than all the others, similar price too.
