Okay, the last time I went to one of these places to eat was during the early 90s I believe and then they all closed down where I was living at the time, I've just come across one where I moved to not so long ago and wondering what your experiences of the fast food chain have been like because I've been looking up reviews and 90% of them are very negative for Wimpy, a lot commenting on how it use to be a wonderful place but now it's gone downhill and expensive for the quality they serve.

I was thinking of visiting it but have really been put off.

Any comments would be fab.

The last time I had one was in the early 90s in Devon.

There was a thread a while back about them opening stores and I looked and the closest was in Scotland I think.

I had one a few years ago for old times sake (was always a Wimpy over McDs girl) and it tasted very bland and not worth the money (more expensive than McDonald's and BK). They're old fashioned desserts still look tempting. The closest Wimpy to me seems to be full of pensioners having the 'tea and teacake' offer, it's become their version of Starbucks!

Put in a postcode and see where your nearest is. Apparently there are eight within eight miles of me. Tried a different postcode and there do seem to be quite a lot about.

There used to be one at Clackett Lane services but it was replaced with a McDonalds, which was a shame. The Wimpy staff were always friendly and it felt less corporate than McDonalds.

I found a plaster in my Wimpy burger. Its was years ago though, the whole health and safety aspect wasnt in place then.

I havent been to one since the late 90s either, but like another poster said ... their puddings were to die for. I remember the hot donut with soft squirty ice cream and chocolate sauce. Blummin brilliant.

Its the only burger place in my town and we three within 5 miles.

They are OK, a step above mcd in that they use real plates and cutlery. Food is OK and of course you can always have the bendy burger, lol

Went to a Wimpy in South Africa when I was on my hols there in January. Wasn't massively impressed....although their double espresso milkshake was exactly what was required and was bloody lovely. The burgers just seemed very 'frozen birdseye' or something. That said, who knows if the UK one is the same...there aren't any in NI so I guess I'll not find out in a hurry.

When I went in the 90's always remember they were really nice. But went in 2009 to one in Wakefield and it was nothing special

Not had a Wimpy near us since the 90's BUT I did visit one in Lewisham last year.

It was bloody delightful (I had two hamburgers )

It was every bit as yummy as I remembered and I thank God I don't live anywhere near one as I'd be there everyday.

I can go months and months without a burger [last one I had was in "Giraffe" in December] and I very rarely go to Mac D's or Burger King... I love a Wimpy though!

Apart from a moronic chef/worker putting it in the food out of revenge, how on earth does pubic hair get into food... I really don't believe those statistics at all.

I had my birthday party in my local Wimpey's in 1988, as McDonald's was fully booked. It was sadly destroyed during last year's summer riots, but I'm over the moon that it re opened this week. Yay! I like the desserts and the burger with the special sauce. And I like the chips and burger sauce. I like the service.

OMG that's a blast from the past, in the midlands town we lived in years back, there was a wimpy restaurant, i think i ate there once or twice, unremarkable food,and yes i remember the bendy burger!! never had one though..

i worked in a burger bar before i went to college and worked very long hours, with crap pay and even crappier foods

forget high street burger joints, make your own or buy fresh from butchers, our local butcher sells his own home made and they are GORGEOUS!! made with fresh minced steak, black pepper and onion mmmm i can taste it now!!

I used to work in a café on Saturdays when I was in 6th form and every week when we finished we waitresses would go to the Wimpy for an icecream float. Happy days.

the brown derby used to be so big 2 greedy kids in the late 70's couldn't eat it all it got very small and mean looking over the years.used to love the tomato sauce they did,i think that's why i'm so fussy and only have green top heinz these days mc'd's not a patch on them .can't remember when i last seen or had a wimpy .

We still have a Wimpy and yes, they still serve Brown Derby!

Years since ive seen a wimpy restaurant, loved the brown derby dessert....yum

I haven't been there since the 1990s and I don't know anyone who goes there.

the one in my town center seems to be frequented by OAP. I guess the only reason it stays open is we don't have McD, burger king or any other chain burger place

I guess it's never on my radar. If I'm out with friends and we're trying to think of somewhere to eat, Wimpy doesn't even cross my mind.... even though I've been vowing to go there for nostalgia's sake, when I'm reminded about its existence!
