I quite like Karen. Okay, she's not marvellous Margaret but she does stand her ground and she frequently speaks up for the mouthy women whom Lord S usually dislikes, BUT I do find it odd that she dresses so badly. She's okay looking now that she's got rid of the dreadful fringe, but her clothes are never top drawer and she chooses things that add bulk and don't give her any personality. Strange.

She's a b1tch and likes the women who are worst of all.

I don't think 'looking stylish' was really in her job description?

Why? Surely presentation is all part of the package

It is in the job description for any TV personality.

I thought both Karen and Nick looked rather frumpy in this episode.

She looks professional, which is how she's probably expected to look. But I don't think she's really there to show personality or wear 'top drawer' clothes; in fact, that might draw attention away from the candidates (who probably are encouraged to dress stylishly and show personality). Her role is to watch them and report back to LAS, and she seems to do that pretty well.

But acting smart and looking smart are not mutually exclusive! She's on television and she's representing business. She should look well dressed. I was never going to rush out and buy one of Margaret's suits, but she always looked smart and had a distinctive style. Karen simply looks a mess

I'm not saying they are. But looking professional and looking stylish aren't the same thing. I haven't really noticed anything unprofessional about Karren's clothes, but saying she 'needs a makeover' and her clothes 'don't give her any personality' suggests that this is about more than professionalism.

It is!

But not rocket science. Just that it's always good to see a high achieving woman look well turned out. Billyanna wasn't just good looking, she was well put together whereas Karen looks as if she fell out of bed and grabbed the first thing to hand out of a wardrobe of clothes that don't suit her. I follow her column in Woman and Home and she is appeallingly honest about caring about how she looks which is why I'm surprised that I've never seen her looking good. When she was younger she always had half her front hanging out and her skirts too short, then she went for a fringe that made her face look cheap, and now she's in dull mode. Come on Karen, you can do better!

Karen Brady needs a brain makeover if anything.

She is utterly vacuous, prejudiced, stupid, deluded and agenda-ridden.

She only cares about women's issues and women's representation in the media, probably because she can understand these issues, whereas business strategy, even at the levels required on the Apprentice, and seem to be beyond her understanding.

She has yet to make an intelligent or insightful comment in all of her appearances, she is simply there because she is female and a quota of has to be filled.

A very inaccurate generalisation, and a rather unfortunate suggestion given her medical history. Karren Brady is a very talented business woman. Yes she struggles to match the pithiness of Margaret Mountford (who could?) but it's untrue to say she has not made any intelligent or insightful comments. I think she's doing OK, certainly not simply making up the numbers.

She wouldn't be the only high profile business woman pushing for a bigger role for women in the boardroom, and speaking out on that subject does not make it her sole agenda.

As for the OP, I don't think her appearance is important at all. She's an observer in the process, if she was glamourous she'd stand out too much. It's quite a relief to see a female on TV who is not over made up and a slave to fashion.

I thought she ahd a makeover for the last series? She certainly seemed to have some shiny new teeth.

I don't like her or the fact she sticks up for the mouthy women yet seems to revel in attempting to put the guys in their place.

I think she has a strong superiority complex and possibly is harbouring some sexist views.

I find her patronising, arrogant, needlessly outspoken- she seems to love to pull the guys up on things that don't even matter. All in all, thoroughly unlikable.

cannot stand Karen. She is so smug in her analysis, and has way more time on camera than margret ever cared for. Plus some of the things she ever pulls them up for in the boardroom are completely irrelevant and just a snide dig and "look at how amazing I am in comparison".

Agreed that she's always pushing the mouthy "business woman", and loves trying to make blokes feel small

She is not a patch on Margrets small yet measured comments that were constructive and equally scathing

In my book, Karen is doing an Ok job and just about fills Margarets shoes.

However, she could look chic whilst doing it, Margaret had a flair for what suited her, Karen looks as if she has been to the bargain basement in Oxfam.

Strong women, such as the French Head of the IMF, look wonderful and chic, Karen has the funds and the help so she could look great but doesnt seem to want to.

Yeah got no idea about business has she? her CV will tell you that, as well as how to spell Karren's first name

Well said. That was exactly my original point. A businesswoman in a powerful position, especially on television, should look effortlessly well groomed. Karen is a mess and lets the side down.

Who said glamorous? How does looking smart translate into becoming a slave to fashion?

Silly!

Presumably an old fat teacher with no dress sense who liked to make snidey remarks about other people that she took against?
