I actually 'get' what the OP is trying to say.
She's not criticising Karens looks, or saying that she should dress fashionably, just that she could look ALOT better by wearing clothes that suit her frame.
I don't think thats a criticism, just a basic observation.

She could look ALOT better too, if she wore clothes that suited her, that ill fitting red dress that she wears to the board room, does not suit her shape and makes her look older and frumpier and quite chunky.

There is no effort by any of the candidates this year, they all look completely dull, no individuality at all. Very safe and boring.

Good point about Jayne. When she was sitting down she looked as if she had a tiny frame. Then when she stood up all you saw was what looked like an enormous backside in a cheap fitting red dress that overpowered her personality. She looked so much better on the Dara programme. I love to see women make the best of themselves and Jane was a good example. The deep black hair had been softened and the dress was much less garish than the red thing which gave her a hard look. Fascinating subject!

My view on Karen is that in a way she is still trying to hang on to her sexuality but in a girlish way when actually she is much sexier now as a sleek polished businesswoman than she was as the new kid on the block. They say that we all naturally gravitate towards the time when we felt we looked our best and I think for Karen she feels it was when she was a leggy twenty-something with big boobs and long hair. I think she could look much better if she wore more subtle and, it has to be said, more expensive clothes - less cleavage and less girly frilly stuff and more sleek, svelte style. I was pleased when she got rid of the fringe which so did not suit her.

I imagine that most of Karren's clothes look really good in the flesh, but as we have all found in photographs of ourselves, they don't necessarily transfer as well when filmed.

I agree she is there to observe, no overwhelm, so dresses accordingly.

I completely agree with you here. She does lack confidence in her personal appearance - largely down to threads like this - which are full of vitriol and spite (regardless of how you dress the thread up!)



But you don't simply talk about how women in business present themselves! Firstly this is a hateful thread focused on a particular business woman and secondly, and more importantly, you have plainly said that her apparent lack of effort in her appearance on the show detracts from 'noticing the woman'!



If you had read my previous comment properly, you would have noticed that I stated that Karren does not talk about her weight/ clothes etc... when in a business capacity (I know she does in a personal capacity which why I agree with you when you say she is insecure about her appearance. This is particularly why I hate this thread - she will read it and become even more bloody insecure, when such insecurity really is not merited in my opinion!)

Karren is in a business capacity when working on the Apprentice and is thus there and has the right to be judged on her ability as an informed observer and that alone.

And no, I do not think Karren herself would appreciate your comment! Who are you kidding?!

Hey, what is going on here? This is a good thread with lots of very different opinions but you keep trowelling on the aggression. So far you have accused me of being ignorant, hateful, awful and sexist - for saying someone could dress better.

I might understand your feelings if I was having a go at somebody's club foot or the mole on the top of their nose, but this is really silly. How can expressing opinions about someones clothes possibly qualify for that level of language? I really like this forum and hope I can make a cotnribution but please don't scare people off. You've said things like Karren "is a mess and lets the side down" and that a women in business "should look effortlessly well groomed". It's hard not to take that as meaning that you regard appearance as a significant factor for a businesswoman and that one who dresses badly will be seen negatively. You said she needs a makeover, so you are judging her appearance.

I think Karren Brady has more than enough confidence, but maybe she'll read this thread and take your advice.

What was that little frill on Karren's outfit, around the middle. It did look odd. There is nothing wrong with Karren's figure but it is fair to say that some people have better dress sense than others.
Wearing flattering clothes can increase confidence no end, especially as we live in a warped, judgemental society. I have little to no interest in fashion but make an effort to wear clothes which stop me resembling portly zoo animals. This then helps me feel more confidant and less concerned that people will be distracted from my more interesting characteristics because they are sniggering at my outfit.
As for Jane, tight red dress and black tights, low heels, yuk yuk yuk. Even I, with little to no interest in fashion, spotted that faux pas.

It's called a peplum. I used to wear them back in the 80's when an extra 3 or 4 inches of fabric round the middle/hips wasn't so much of an issue - now wouldn't touch it with a barge pole and certainly not if there was a camera pointed at me!

Actually, I think if there is an comment about what Karren wears, that is probably a big factor. I don't think she has cheap clothes at all and I would imagine that in real life they look perfectly fine - it's just that sometimes what looks good in real life does not translate the same through the camera.
Maybe all that's needed, if she is bothered - which she probably isn't anyway and if not good for her - is to try on a potential on camera outfit and just take a photo or have someone take a short clip of film just to see how it looks before deciding.

I would expect her, as a TV performer, to know the rules of camera friendly clothes. Most people who go on the box do.

She will have heard FAR worse abusive comments in every football ground she's attended, so I doubt your pathetic little weak attempt at putting the woman down is going to matter one jot to her. From people who are unable to watch something and form an opinion based on what they actually see, but rather see what they want to see, despite massive evidence to the contrary. People who believe that it is necessary to a 'fan' or a 'hater' and construe anything said by anyone as being in one camp or another.

The idea that the very (and increasingly) chubby Karren Brady gives people tips on snacking is clearly totally ludicrous. Whoever thought up that particular commercial opportunity obviously has a significant sense of humour.

Neither do I. I don't think Karren is the least bit overweight, especially for a woman in her 40s, but I guess it's subjective. Some people need to spread negativity to make themselves feel better (or give themselves a good laugh at others' reactions), whereas you and I don't. Probably best not to encourage it.

Hence the reason that I am only responding to your post.
