Chris Evans is constantly playing this song and I couldn't figure out why so upon looking at the Radio 2 playlist its on their A listings page.

Is it getting a UK singles release then?

I've heard it on radio 2 a couple of times, It's a beautiful song. I've heard my nan say how much she likes it too. There's something for everyone on MDNA.

It will yes, we're getting it instead of Girls Gone Wild. Listening to it right now, such a fantastic song so glad people are paying attention to it

Yes, Girls Gone Wild was released internationally on Monday but the UK wasn't included, we're getting Masterpiece I think it's because of the airplay it's had. And I'm not sure about a video but I really do hope so something along the lines of the Live to Tell video, simplistic yet very bold

if he does, it doesn't mean he dislikes each and every song on the album

Really pleased to hear another 'ballid' from Madonna - it's been too long.

Why ask, maybe it's just their laziness on changing all the songs.

Ive just seen an advert for MDNA and it only featured the song Masterpiece in it. It didnt feature either of Girl Gone Wild or Give Me All Your Luvin. That kinda confirms it as a single doesnt it??

Objectively, Masterpeice could have been a hit if it was released the following week it got the Golden Globe nomination. If Madonna had been very busy with the Superbowl rehearsals at that time to shoot a proper video, a simple production using clips from the movie would have helped a big deal not only for the single but for W.E itself which was getting scathing reviews despite it's laudable cinematography and costume design. Madonna has done this type of videos before with Into The Groove, Live To Tell, Who's That Girl?, This Used To Be My Playground, You Must Love Me to name a few and either the song or the film became a hit or even both! However, no sort of interesting idea surrounded Masterpiece back then and even upon it's eventual release thus it's merits never helped the film nor itself in terms of chart position. It landed to a lowly # 68 on it's UK debut despite getting A-listed with Radio2. In some countries, the song peaked mainly due to airplay.

Despite ZERO promotion for this single, it is still note-worthy that it appeared on the charts. If only there had been better strategies, the song would have lived up to it's name and became the Masterpiece that "would be impossible to move!"

573. Masterpiece - Madonna

"Masterpiece" is a great song, I just think it's a shame that there isn't going to be a video shot for it.

It is. After having MDNA for a week or so I think that and Beautiful Killer are the strongest tracks on there

I prefer Falling Free to Masterpiece. Vocally its stronger and its lyrics are quite haunting.

Very interesting note there indeed I think had they known and wanted to have a hit single in Europe then they would have simply made a video for Masterpeice and shown it off so to speak.

While its now not my favourite on MDNA...in fact its not even one of her best ballads when placed next to Falling Free (which is beautiful...so hauntingly rich!)

But again...surely this highlights that the focus really isnt on gettinv "hit singles" for MDNA...which is a shame because 5 sonvs scream out for attention and massive release! But unfortunately not.

i so agree.

the consensus want Madonna to do the traditional: choose the best singles then promote them to become hits, release the album which houses those hits then promote it to become a hit as well, then round-up the era with a global tour... SAD to say, Madonna and her management won't want to do it that way. they are cutting the game to the bigger returns of the tour so the singles and the album don't even matter. it's just a bonus if they become hits along the way without much effort.

with that, we just have to be thankful she at least made videos for GMAYL and GGW. those two were just her way of thanking loyal fans who stood by her since.
