Big groups in big stadia are just crap! Saw Oasis at the Manchester Apollo a few years back and that was a decent gig. Just the right size really.
The City of Manchester stadium? No soul (but plenty of a**holes every other Saturday!) and no atmosphere. |

A long time ago I had the chance to see Oasis at Manchester University and turned it down (free tickets and all). This was before they were that big and I cannot even remember the reason I turned it down! I have regretted that decision for many a year.
So, I always have a lot of respect for people who bite the bullet and try out these 'newish' bands at small venues. If you can only count venues like Wembley, Knebworth, LCCC and other vast arenas as the times you've seen Oasis then (like me) you really missed the boat because they were no longer new and vibrant, but established and mainstream, and the gigs may be great but the buzz you get from witnessing this brilliant new band at the start of their journey is missing. And that's the best buzz in the world! |

I would go if it was smaller venues but JustExhumed is right.
In a huge stadium the sound will be all over the place if there is the slightest amount of wind. |

just exhumed, ive seen oasis 11 times, the first at the limelight club in belfast in front of 300 people,5 days before the release of their first album, and also in venues of 2000 to 20000 plus the big crowds of 60000+ and dont really give a shit what you say

Got 6 tickets for the Manchester date, i wouldn't say it lacks atmosphere at all, saw the Chilis earlier this year and it was awesome!

Belfastlass, if you saw Oasis before their first album release then surely you can understand my point about small intimate gigs. To see Oasis at such an early stage, knowing you are witnessing something that is going to be massive - what a feeling. If I compare seeing bands at small gigs and then seeing them at bigger gigs, more often than not the earlier gigs always come out on top. Perhaps it's atmosphere, intimacy or just acoustics, or like I've said, perhaps it's just a 'feeling'!
Alas, I don't seem to get excited about music nowadays as I did ten years ago. |

I'm really getting into tiny little gigs at the moment. I've seen The Subways twice in the past 2 weeks (and once again on Saturday!) and the atmosphere when theres about 200 people max in a sweaty pub is amazing. Even better when you have been chatting to the band beforehand, and then chat to them after the gig too. After an Oasis gig you'd never see them walk straight off the front of the stage and walk through the crowd to chat to people.
