Tesco knives offer
Has anyone bought one of these knives? Tesco give vouchers out for every 20 quid you spend and with 5 vouchers you get a voucher for 70% off. brings the price down to around a fiver.
Are they any good?

Their cheap knives are (were?) made of steel that chips after a while. The good quality stuff is fine - I have a few and cannot fault them.

If the ones on offer are the profession series then are decent enough. My tutor had two of them. He regularly let me use them and they were better than the standard knives in the kitchen.

I think those Thomas knives may be a 'special buy', but that doesn't necessarily mean they are poor. I found this comment -

cool, ta.
I've got some AWT ones, very good, but now need replacing. I've got enough vouchers for 3 knives so far, so by the time they finish the promotion, I should be able to get the full set

I have bought 2 on the offer. I got the small Santoku which is perfect for me as we already had a large one but I found it awkward to use. I also got the utility knife for my daughter.
They are very light but lovely & sharp. I may go get some more. Speaking of knives, could anyone tell me what I should do with old knives I no long want? I am not sure what is the best way to dispose of them. |
