Awwww poor Roger. Hope he makes a full recovery

I've currently got a caged cat with an injured leg - she hated it at first, but a week and a half in, she's getting more used to it. Only 4 1/2 weeks to go

I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe you can share more detials on describing it. And I hope you can find it soon.

She jumped up on the bonnet of the car, slipped off, but managed to trap her leg between the car and the bumper, damaging the hock ligaments

She ended up being referred to a specialist hospital in Surrey where they've rebuilt the ligaments, pinned the leg and put it in a cast on cage rest

Although this pales into insignificance as, sadly, our other cat passed away this morning due to a heart condition.

RIP Dylan

Not a good couple of weeks, tbh

I do hope Roger makes a full recovery - peeing and pooing is a good start!

What a good thing you went looking for him. Alot of people would just assume he'd run away and wait for him to turn up.Not me, Over the years I have spent hours trawling the streets for missing cats, leafletting the neighbours, putting up posters etc. It does work, because my late cat only turned up, after 2 weeks when I leafletted the neighbours. I think someone might have taken her in then released her when they realised she belonged to someone. (she was an indoor cat who had escaped so she wasn't known by people round here) I think when they are injured, like Roger, their instinct is to hole up somewhere. They are in shock, and in in pain, possibly disoriented. So glad you have him back, and hope he continues to improve. Wonder why the vet didn't pick up on the fractured pelvis right away?

So nice to hear good news for a change. I hope Roger makes a swift recovery from being hit by the car, poor cat and poor you. I'm so pleased for you both that you found him and I hope he gets to keep his tail.

Up date

Roger is eating, drinking, eliminating and yowling with gusto. He keeps trying to find a way out of the cage. However he looks so much better and even his tail may yet be saved

Glad to hear Roger is well and truly on the mend. Its hard for them when they have to be on cage rest. One of mine was hit by a car the year before last. She had a broken pelvis so 4 weeks in a cage. What I did was lay a bookshelf on the floor near the window and put the cage on it so she had a little view of the outside. When she was finally allowed out of the cage I had to keep her in the house for a further week, but I made sure to put the cage away so she could see it was gone forever. I was afraid she would go out and never come back if she thought there was the slightest chance of ever going back in the cage lol

I lost a cat in 1997, I tried very hard to find him but to no avail (although I did take on an unwanted cat as a result of my search, who was with me till 2003 when he died).

Sounds like Roger is well on the way to recovery - let's hope his tail can be saved as well (although it's not the end of the world if it can't)

We put a couple of plants in the sunny spot where Dylan used to doze and scattered his ashes there this afternoon. Was very sad

Virago is still on cage rest until her re-X-ray in two weeks to find out if the ligaments are healing, although she's currently enjoying the sunshine in the garden. We should find out then when she has the pins out - we're hoping for sooner rather than later. We're letting her out a bit more when we're here as we're both out at work all day, but she just finds somewhere else to sleep!

Oh poor Roger. Hopefully he will quickly adapt to life without a tail.
