Anyone know how to set the clock on 9300T or is it automatic?

I've read the manual 54783290565 times but the word 'clock' does not exist - but I do know it has one - and i suspect it's wrong

You can set the time offset but generally this is a bad idea. If you are seeing times offset by an hour from Sunday onwards this is because of the change to British Summer Time tonight and will appear correct tomorrow. If it is something else then describe the problem you are actually experiencing.

My Father in law is complaining that all manual recordings (press record) are being clipped short by a few minutes

not sure what it is but maybe his clock is a tad out

should it be corrected automatically?

The clock should update automatically when it's turned on. If you press record a 2nd time you can extend the recording time.

Are you sure all recordings are being cut short?

The reason recorded programmes can be cut short (or alternatively continue recording after the end of the programme) is that manual recordings (usually referred to as Instant Recordings) stop at the scheduled time of the programme. So if the programme runs late the end will be missed and conversely if the programme finishes early additional content will be recorded.

Programmes scheduled in the Guide will be controlled by the Accurate Recording feature of the PVR and the recording should start at beginning and finish at the end of the programme irrespective of whether it runs to time or not.

Would it be better/easier (he 70+) for him to record it from the guide than just press 'record'?

On mine (Tivo) I can just press "OK" (pop mini-guide at current program) & press record

Whats the easiest way to record the current prog from the guide

If it has already started you can't record it from the guide.

Can't you get him to go through the guide and press OK on all the programmes he might want to watch in the next day or two? This would avoid missing the ends (and the starts) of programmes he wants, or missing them altogether.

(And since when has 70 been old? )

Another youngster. I've had my free TV licence for more than three years now.

Didn't say it was old - I just said he's 70+

Any thoughts of 70 = old is purely your own thoughts

That's pants

I told him just to record the following programme too and even that blew his mind

I'm not sure why he reports all his manual recordings are cropped yet no one else seems to be complaining so I'm back to the clock setting again

You implied that being over 70 explained his difficulties with his PVR.

If you have access to an accurate clock then is it OK to phone him and ask what time the humax says it is?

I agree. All the other makes of PVRs I have used do allow recordings of current programmes to be selected in the EPG. One of the quirks of the Humax SD PVRs I'm afraid.

I very much doubt the clock is the problem. The clock is synchronised frequently by signals transmitted by the broadcasters.

As I said in post #5 above "The reason recorded programmes can be cut short (or alternatively continue recording after the end of the programme) is that manual recordings (usually referred to as Instant Recordings) stop at the scheduled time of the programme. So if the programme runs late the end will be missed and conversely if the programme finishes early additional content will be recorded." As it is likely that some Instant recorded programmes will finish before their scheduled times not all programmes will be cropped short.

Not just a quirk of the Hummy and in my opinion not a quirk at all but a sensible mode of operation. My Panasonic recorder works in a similar way selecting the current programmes from the guide and offering a reservation for any other.
