She's a good Singer... but he's a different class. If you go trawling through Youtube there are loads of Vids, including one of him on his own singing 'Bring him home' from Les Mis in Dec '09 so he would have been 14 or 15 at the time.

I think he needs her at this level for now... but I would like to see her complementing him, but allowing him plenty of time to sing solo each time. Once BGT is over I'm sure he has a great Solo career ahead of him.

I do feel sorry for her though. With most other singers she really would be a match... he's just so outstanding though that anyone alongside him would sound second best.

Wasn't Jonathan on The Voice very very briefly last night - sat in the holding room and referred to as 'Johnny' and with Charlotte saying how good the format was because they would't be judging him before seeing him? I think I saw that but now I'm not sure if i'm going mad!!

I'm sure that was a preview beforehand on BGT of "whats coming up" or something, I dont think it was The Voice

I agree. That's a very good point. Charlotte had an equally stunning voice but I thought she really was a bit drowned out by the loudness of the backing track which was at the volume Jonathan sings.
But I loved them as a duet. Both are fantastic young singers and I am sure they will have successful singing careers together or individually..
They were put together for their GCSE music by their teachers. Wow! Their families and the school must be so proud of them.

have to respect him when he said they came as a duo and will remain a duo. obviously the pressure on him will be immense to go it alone so i hope he can handle that.

you may well find that she might voluntarily step back if she thinks he's going to be a star - they're clearly good friends so it's not unreasonable to think she'd want the best for him.

but then maybe cowell could sweeten the deal by offering them both individual record deals ?

Lets hope that, as Faryls parents did, their parents look past the quick money Cowell can offer and concentrate on the long term development of their talents.

You weren't to know but I was at that recording and sadly Rhydian was suffering from a vocal bleed at the time and couldn't sing anywhere near at the standard he would normally. The show had to go on though and luckily he has now made a full recovery.
Hence the lack of gusto you'd normally expect from Rhydian

I'm sure she won't do it, but if I were Charlotte, I'd say to Jonathan "Look, I'll stay with you right through the competition and I'll be there to support you, but you can do this on your own, and I'm going to back out of the competition now." It's lovely that he wants her there, but Cowell's right, it's not going to showcase his voice properly.

Thanks for clarifying that. He did seem to be holding back. I'd assumed that it was deliberate.

I'm tired of the "Charlotte needs to go" comments. If it wasn't for her, Jonathan might not even have had the confidence to sing in front of millions of viewers.

I have no doubt in my mind that Jonathan will have a career of his own after the show, but to think she should back out when they came in as a duo - and when he himself said he wants her to stay - is ridiculous.

I agree. Jonathan said he has confidence issues and without Charlotte I doubt we'd have seen him on BGT.

His powerful voice does tend to drown hers - I could barely hear her Might be better if they could sing something where each one had solo opportunitiies within the duet.

I have suddenly developed a rather large crush on Charlotte (it's a bit weird because I'm 25!) but that's beside the point.

I love operatic style songs, and Jonathan's voice was awesome, but I really think there could be a really great pairing in these two. Only problem is, I could barely hear her voice.

And is it just me, or does anything think Walliams was talking out of his arse when he labelled it as 'pop and opera'? Where does Charlotte's voice sound anything like a pop voice? maybe in the verses, but that's the only bit. Tosser.

I think theyre good but im fed up of the advert with the two of them that keeps being shown on itv2 with a link to the website to watch their audition again. Bgt are so desperate to force the next susan boyle on us theyve already decided they are worth more publicity than anyone else. Tbh i can see every week dwelling on this two.

Same. They're driving me mad with him by constantly showing/trailing his audition on nearly every ad break, and he only shot to fame 3 days ago.
