Could Alexandra Burke become one of the major icons of our times?
If she got the right international push would she be able to surpass the icons of the last decade (Britney, Christina, Beyoncé) and all they achieved to become a true icon of our times?
Does she have what it takes to make that leap? I'm not talking about one hit song, or even one album charting high, but in 15 years will people still be talking about her as one of the stars still making waves. Will she still have albums charting at number 1 all over the globe in 15 years? What does she have in her arsenal that could help her on her way, or if not what will hold her back from this goal? |

WTF did this come from? She has the talent and potential. Her material needs to catch up and also, proper promo. Once that happens, she'll be fine. Also, launch globally. You can't do anything from the UK alone. I think RCA are launching her properly, UK wise, they really put the money in promotionally, it was only radio that messed up the single launch.

I really like Alexandra, but it's practically impossible for ANYBODY in this current media climate to get more popular than Britney and Christina were around 2000.

I think she definitely has the potential to be a seriously major UK act down the line. She just needs someone to give her that international push like Adele, Leona and Jessie J. Alexandra is determined so I think she will achieve her dream of international success.
Unlike so many artists out these days, she is not a one trick pony and this works in her favour. I think she could easily become the next UK sensation to make waves in the US. |

In my opinion...currently...no. At the moment, she is 'just another singer' who can hold a tune!

Is this for real? Or parody of the Burke fans?

It's nothing other than another desperate attempt to slam Alexandra. It's funny how some people can have so much support for 1D, Adele, Leona, Jessie J etc going international and representing the UK but somehow Alexandra will 'never' do it.

She's a manufactured pop puppet and not many British manufactured pop puppets have long lasting careers in the US and I doubt she will be the one to buck that trend, America already has enough of those. |

I don't know if she will become an "icon" but she is very talented and can become a global star with the right material.

If you want my honest opinion, I think she will end up having a hit or two in America, but like the others that you've listed I believe that success in America will be fleeting and in 5 years none of them will have careers in America and in some cases in the UK as well (apart from Adele that is, her music doesn't pander to the fickle pop market in the same way). There's nothing that suggests to me that she will achieve anywhere near the sucess of the likes of Britney, Christina or Beyoncé...although some Burke fans think she'll easily surpass them.

Sick of waiting? Why can't you be happy enjoying her music? I don't understand this weird competitiveness.

I wouldn't wish failure in any of my favourites but I don't fret about them cracking America. Im too busy listening to their music.

She's been floating since she won X Factor - not overly successful but not a failure either. She needs to relate to her audience more. From what I've seen...people either don't like her or they don't have an opinion on her. She is talented, there is no denying it, but there isn't anything that makes her stand above other artists.

I'm a massive fan of Alexandra, but she'll never be an icon. That just won't happen and in my opinion it's ridiculous to think that it will. Artists who become icons usually start to have success very young. I think she'll easily become the top UK artist without a shadow of a doubt. Hopefully if RCA do things the right way, she'll be successful in the U.S and all over Europe too. The main thing letting her down is her music.

What can she do - If she can write killer tunes she may have a chance... and going by Elephant.... she cant! In a years time i predict she'll be doing I'm a Celebrity or Strictly. |

Yeah it's not all that great. 'Start Without You' was awful and 'Elephant' isn't much better either. The only thing that saved that song was its the killer hooks.
