So wait Britney has only sold 24 million singles? That means less than half a million per single worldwide? That does not add up! Apparently Britney has 100 million physical sales, that does not include her digital sales!
That makes sense seeing as most of her singles were physical. She had quite a lot of platinum hits ie. 1m sold in the US, her debut single sold 7/9m WW alone.

8 million copies of 21 sold in America alone...somehow I doubt Alexandra will be albe to sell 8 million copies of one album worldwide!
She probably will. Calm down dear. We get it, you hate her

StateOfDreaming is just bitter let her hate as much as she wants, we'll see where that gets her...

Why is it bitterness to not be a fan of Burke? Such a lazy argument.

No. The term 'icon' is thrown about far too regularly these days as it is.
And especially on these threads!

Alexandra Burke will be judged on the quality of the songs, none of which have been particularly memorable.......so far!

Lol, what gave you the impression that I was implying what you've just stated? I don't think a person who's not a fan of Alexandra would go to such extreme lengths to criticise her and her career and then go as far as to say she will never have success like Britney, that's what I call bitter. If you don't like her okay, that's fine...good for you but who are we to predict what will happen and won't?

From what I've seen success doesn't always equate talent, just look at the music scene today there aren't many great vocalists there, are there? Only a handful.

Not really, I would say the best vocalists out there at the moment are Lana, Adele, Leona Lewis, Beyonce & Jennifer Hudson, such a limited number of exceptional vocalists. There is definitely space for Alex in the industry, who is a much better vocalist than Adele and Lana.

You called another poster bitter. That's where I got it from. And I can think of lots of great vocalists, with ease.

It works for both, and I can only think of five...I'm definitely interested in who you think are these 'great vocalists'

I clearly have a very different taste to you.

Kate Bush
Laura Marling
Joy Williams
Karen O
Bjork
PJ Harvey

All women who write, sing and play instruments for all their records.

All women who write, sing and play instruments for all their records.
I've never even heard of these women before, sorry. Any current mainstream artists?

Exactly. If you only listen to chart music, of course you're going to think Alexandra is amazing. I don't see anything obscure about the women I've mentioned, Joy won a Grammy recently.

I don't just listen to chart music, I listen to plenty of other genres but I tend to listen to more 'chart music' as you would like to call it.

She is very talented I don't know anyone else who likes her. I've been infatuated with her song "Sunny Day" for months.

I love Bjork...all her songs tell a story and she has amazing vocals. But I don't think she can be compared to Alexandra at all...:-/

That sums up this music forum to a tee.
The wildly obscure Kate Bush, Bjork, Laura Marling, PJ Harvey have never troubled the top of the album charts or are ever played on radio.

However, get someone who isn't talented enough to make it on their own, throw in a phone vote, get them to sing completely forgetful songs that some one else writes and someone else tell them to sing, and these guys are all over them like flies on shit.
