Tina Turner - why did she flop Stateside??

after Break Every Rule??

Private Dancer #3 - 5x Platinum: 6.9mil
Break Every Rule #4 - Platinum: 2mil
Foreign Affair #31! - Gold
Wildest Dreams #61!!! No awards

Foreign Affair contains The Best, Steamy Windows, I Don't Wanna Lose You - a better album that the previous....on a par with Private Dancer IMO. It got worse with Wildest Dreams only reaching 61 but not as many well known hits bar Goldeneye.
It just surprised me while looking at her chart performance

I have liked Tina Turner for years but did not realise that her singles have not done so good on the single chart

I've always wondered the same thing. She did really well with "Private Dancer" and "Break Every Rule" but then didn't score another top 10 album until her greatest hits collection in 2004. It is strange when you consider how popular she remained as a live draw during the 1990s. I guess it doesn't really matter since she's one of the most successful live performers of all time and a music legend.
