Kylie Minogue- Light Years VS Fever
They are at once poles apart but on the other hand innately similar and equally brilliant and will forever be associated as her comeback album and the one that solidified her career so what is your favourite.
Mine has to be Light Years it was the first Kylie album I bought and it took a while to get round to but it was worth it. What i love about it is after Impossible Princess she could have gone on trend and tried to claw back her career instead she opted for a post disco camp cocktail feel that was at once accesible but still left field and different to what was going on at the time and was cohesive uplifting and fun and highly underrated with some of her career highlights Your Disco Needs You, On a night like this, Spinning around, Disco down, Loveboat, Light Years Fever just missed it out i love how she sets the tone from track one its disco meets a Electro the entire basis of the album and up to track 8 is cold sterile clinical and sexy and then slips back into post disco campery that is again accessible frothy bubbly and fun again with career higlights but unlike Light Years the album works as a whole and needs to be heard more as a piece. I also love its warmth even though the sound can be quite clinical which Kylie has always exceled at sophisticated dance pop with an avant garde edge. So what is your favourite |

Fever...no contest.
The album has a clear concept and vision. It is also filled with total floorfillers. Love it. One of my favourites of all time! |

It's a tough call but I'll say "Fever".
Everything about that period was perfect. The singles, the album, the imagery, the videos, the tour, it really was a lightning in a bottle moment for her where everything just perfectly slotted into place. She was on top of her game and in a different league to most other pop acts at the time. "Fever" is a strong album from start to finish, the only weak track being "Give It to Me". Non-singles like "Fragile", "Love Affair", "Burning Up", "Your Love" and "More More More" are all great tracks that could have easily made successful singles. I personally think "Fragile" should have been the fifth and last single as it would have been a great way to end the period after four uptempo singles. We also got some great remixes like the Ruff and Jam Lounge Mix of "Love at First Sight". "Light Years" really was her going back to her pop roots and celebrating that and all her campness. The album has a few weak moments - "I'm So High", "Bittersweet Goodbye" and "Kids". I've always felt that "Kids" should have been left off the album and made avaliable on Robbie's album only as it seems out of place on "Light Years". Plus it's sh!t. I guess I shouldn't complain too much as its inclusion helped the album sell. My other complaint is "Ocean Blue" should have made the album and not have been relegated to being a b-side. The album is classic pop Kylie which people love. |

My favourite out of the two is Light Years, although it's obvious why people prefer Fever.

Prefer Fever but love Light Years too - although I prefer the b-sides/unreleased to ones that made the album. Give It To Me and Fragile should've been replaced with Boy and Baby. Tightrope should have been track 13 like in Oz....also adore Good Like That, No Better Love and So High

Fever is Cool Kylie, Light Years is Camp Kylie. I prefer Camp Kylie, so I prefer Light Years. It also contains my two all time favourite Kylie songs.

Light Years for me. It's much lighter and more fun to listen to. I love Fever but it's a bit on the heavy side for an artist like Kylie, so I don't play it as often as most of her albums.

Literally impossible.
There are probably more of my Kylie faves on Light Years (Please Stay, Butterfly, Light Years), but there are also some stunningly flawless tracks on Fever (Fragile, Love At First Sight, Fever). Cannot decide. |

And as i thought almost a clear majority for Fever it was perfect pop concoction but Light Years is that little bit more fun and different. And also wouldn't regard Fever as heavy that would be Kylie 94 or impossible princess Fever is light and breezy. |

Hey, it's just my opinion. Music and how we interpret it is totally subjective, after all.

Got to be Fever. It was the first Kylie album i owned and it kick-started my obsession with her
![]() I also like that Can't Get You Out Of My Head doesn't age, saw it on TV the other day and could have easily been released this year! Light Years does have some amazing tracks on it though (mainly Butterfly and Disco Down) |

Light Years, hands down. It's her most perfect album. I adore it.

Maybe "heavy" is the wrong word to use, but for me personally it just isn't as light and fun as albums like Light Years or X are to me. I'm hardly saying it's a bad album so I'm not sure why my interpretation of Fever appears to bother you.

I suppose I'm just not explaining myself very well. But I'm not actually criticising Fever, so it seems a bit pointless for me to try over and over to get people to understand what I mean.

I agree with this...along with Aphrodite to. For me, Fever is Kylie's most cohesive album to date...do you know what I mean?

Definitey and unlike Aphrodite it has variety, and spark it just lacks the vibrancy and fun of Light Years
