how does jennifer lopez make it happen in music?
her voice isn't the strongest but the sounds of her music is so amazing that people just kept making her relevant in music so that's how she became so successful. in the late 90's and early 2000's. she kept experimenting with her music like in her debut was pop, 2nd album was r&b, her remix album was hip hop, 3rd, 4th and 6th albums was a mix of both r&b and hip hop. 5th album was latin pop an all spanish album and 7th album was pop.
i like how she experiments with her music and it feels like she goes through every single genre as well. i don't think her voice isn't the strong but she can sing better than a few others. what do you think of her as an artist and her music? |

i love some of her music, especially the early stuff. `if you had my love` and `waiting for tonight` were great records. `on the floor` was a good comeback track for her and `papi` deserved to do a lot better.
i think her image, her dancing ability and her acting ability are also factors in terms of bringing her videos to life. |

her dancing is amazing and i think her along with janet jackson, paula abdul, and ciara as very good dancers in music as singers/dancers.

i would say she is on-par with those artists. paula was a pretty weak singer though, she had some catchy songs though.

yeah but them dance moves kept them relevant though janet could outsing them all.
however, `spellbound` was pretty good to be fair. unfortunately, she failed with album #3 and `my love is for real` is such a good come-back record too.

P.S- pop, r&b, hip hop and latin music are hardly every single genre. |

yeah paula was quite good with her music despite her voice. she did quite well because there was quite of alot of competition back in her heyday like taylor dayne, debbie gibson, janet jackson, whitney houston, madonna and others were dominating the charts at that time paula came in. a few other rockers as well. its probably easier today for artists like lady gaga, rihanna, katy perry, etc to get hits. while these ladies from the late 80's had to earn it.

you still gotta give her credit for experimenting with her music and her role in selena got her big success and recognition.

paula did do well for a while and there was a lot of competition on the us chart.
yup in america in the late 80's was alot of competition i think that was her big break. she did loads beforehand. however, this was the turning point for her career. do you think j.lo wouldn't be where she's at if selena hadn't die? because selena was suppost to be very successful and aiming at even bigger success than what she got in the early 90's especially if she had finished her dreaming of you album as well, so actually selena could've been as successful as like artists like beyonce or j.lo or even shakira. she had big success as a latin star and she was getting ready for bigger things to come and was even planning on even doing an extensive world tour for dreaming of you. |

actually i feel that if it wasn't for selena's death she could've still been struggling probably but she did try hard to prove that selena was no fluke and she did.

i definitely could see selena having similar success to shakira. its unfortunate what happened and she had a lot of potential. jennifer did a good job with that role though and it did wonders for her career.

but more english hits of course for selena because her english is more clear than shakira's. plus, selena wasn't always a spanish speaker. she spoke english first and then learned spanish. her spanish was kind of funny at times but it got better toward the end.

i think it was perhaps because you also mentioned beyonce and shakira seemed a more obvious comparison when i first became aware of selena.

She's not a very good actress and a poor singer yet she has managed to become very successful. I'd say it's a combination of luck, good promotion, knowing/dating the right people, determination and her looks.
