Is Lady Gaga's break helping her career?

It's pretty common knowledge that Lady Gaga was everywhere during 2009, 2010 and 2011. This obviously led to overexposure, and as a result, some radio stations stopped playing her music as much (AMP Radio) because they felt that she was overexposed. Since New Years Day, Lady Gaga has kept a low profile. In her nearly 4 month break, Gaga has been busy planning her upcoming, so far sold out, world tour, recording her new album, and shooting her perfume commercial with Stephen Klien. Recently, Gaga's singles + albums have been rising on iTunes steadily over the past few weeks, her AI on radio has been increasing compared to what it was in December, and she is gaining followers on Twitter and fans on Facebook faster than she was during the last quarter of 2011. So, is this because of Gaga's break, or is it pure coinsidence? Is Gaga's well earned break from the spotlight helping her career?

its not really a break though, if she is recording and touring. you have to give her credit though for realising she was overexposed. in the uk, a similar thing happened to cheryl cole and she too took a media break.

its better to take a step back and let people miss your presence when it comes to mainstream music. the trick is to come-back before you are forgotten, but that wont be a problem for gaga.

the radio stations are slowly but surely starting to play her again. because there was a brief time when mainstream toned down on playing her music. but now that she ain't that overexposed as she was now they can realized that she aint too overexposed. like i think the ones who are getting the overexposure is rihanna, katy perry and others who are getting alot of radio support right now. i see radio playing her old hits like just dance, poker face, paparazzi, bad romance, telephone, and her btw hits like born this way and the edge of glory.

the problem with overexposure is bigger than just radio spins. for instance, adele is overexposed on uk radio. however, she is rarely seen on uk tv in terms of tv interviews and performances. so generally adele is not overexposed. gaga was everywhere, radio, tv, commercials and people get tired of that.

she is right to take a step back and just concentrate on the tour and new music. she will benefit in the long run.

i wonder how she realized she was overexposed? because i think this is doing good for some of her fans to miss her for a bit because radio is starting to take baby steps in playing her music again

that billboard poll may have been food for thought, or perhaps `marry the night` under performing.

It sure was a wake up call for her and a good idea not to kick off the tour in America because then her sales won't be strong!!

Hilarious!

Come on OP, you have to admit you do come up with most contrived threads ever. Do you sit with loads of words cut out on paper and just randomly put a few together?

Words: Lady, think, chart, Beyonce, sales, you, album, radio, do, harm, listen, GaGa, etc etc

It'll do her good. It'll give the fans a chance to miss her and when she comes back with full force people will relish it again. She was getting to the point of overexposure

I think she meant a break from "media interviews", not a full break. She is going on tour soon and no doubt still tweeting 24/7, so yeah.

Not really a break, she's going on tour next month for over 100 dates.

Um, it's a break from promo and material releasing. She couldn't very well just not tour the album, that'd be ridiculous. She's just not making any media appearances so if you don't try to look for her then you just won't see her.

Unless you go on the main digitalspy site, in which case they make articles about her bowel movements and menstrual cycles or something to that effect.

You're pretty much answering your question here, aren't you?

But yes, I think this break will help her in the long run.

Friendly tip to the OP: rather than spewing all of your thought on a subject in your first comment, allow some discussion to ensue before you give your opinion.

When you answer your own question right at the start, it kinda kills the conversation.

It's great to see that your punctuation is improving though!

Definitely!

And not only the fans need to have a break from her, she needs to have a break from music ( and from her personna ) as well. Of course, her lead single after her hiatus will have to be AMAZING, because she won't get away with anything average this time around.

Yup. I think everyone needed a bit of a breather.

This next album is going to be a big one. The Fame Monster was so incredible that it allowed a bit of grace for BTW but if its an average production then I can see people saying she all hype and no substance. I had hoped she'd use different producers this time but it seems like its the usual crowd again

I think despite BTW being a success it didn't do what they all hoped it would. For example it was barely in the UK top 10 at all. It left after just a few weeks. The lead single was the only real success of the album imho. So that is why she has gone back to the producers of The Fame Monster.

She has to hit the ground running with this new album or she is in danger of just becoming an artist similar to what Prince was. Successfull for a few years then vanish from the mainstream. She looked so out of place and irrelevant at the Grammy Awards. Almost as if her moment had passed. Such a contrast to the previous year.

A long break will do her career the world of good.

By all accounts she's working with RedOne, Garibay and White Shadow again. I think she should use entirely different producers and come up with a fresh sound

I think that was the problem with BTW. There wasn't really a sound to it.

With The Fame it was a new sort of RnB/pop mixed with electro beats. That is why she was so fresh and unique during her first year. No one else was doing that.

Redone is more exposed than Lady Gaga is. I agree maybe its time for a new sound but what could she do? she is still too early in her career to completely reinvent herself. It could alienate her fanbase if she was to change too much too soon.

It definitely will, when some others are in overkill or have been (Rihanna) she will be back at the top of her game.

LOL . I think it will help the quality of the music and people will not get sick of her (or at least as much ). Plus she will not be forgotten so i think a break is wise.
