selena was certainly the biggest latin singer of the 90's. she was the queen of tejano music. i also think she should be the queen of latin pop since toward the end of her brief successful career she was doing latin pop. she was being compared to the likes of madonna, janet jackson and gloria estefan as people started calling her like the next madonna or like the mexican madonna even. the next gloria estefan etc.

her most notable album she did before she died was Amor prohibido (English: Forbidden Love). It did receive strong acclaim from the latin market and many people started thinking she's the biggest thing ever. I think people were even thinking of her like latin stars at the time like gloria estefan, luis miguel and other famous latin stars.

selena was suppost to be very successful and aiming at even bigger success than what she got in the early 90's especially if she had finished her dreaming of you album as well, so actually selena could've been as successful as like artists like beyonce or jennifer lopez who would later portray her in the biopic movie or even shakira. she had big success as a latin star and she was getting ready for bigger things to come and was even planning on even doing an extensive world tour for dreaming of you.

of course her english hits dreaming of you and i could fall in love are her biggest hits and there still being played and being remembered like their still no.1 on the adult contemporary stations and mainstream does play them ocassionally.

Wow, perhaps one of the best threads you have ever done

Selena was an amazing singer. I recently watched a Biopic on her and it blew me away. I then checked out her music and she was fantastic. Great performer and fantastic vocalist. She made way for people like Shakira. Incredibly influential woman who died in extremely crappy circumstances.

shes my favorite artist of all time actually i never mention her here because i thought you guys wouldn't recognize the name until i mention Jennifer Lopez and her breakthrough. i think Selena was getting ready to do big things along the way. i could tell that DOY was gonna be successful. I knew she would've done a lot of promotion because this girl would do anything and she was working her butt off big time when she was alive. So I think she would've make it happen in the English market.

Selena was suppose to be very successful and aiming at even bigger success than what she got in the early 90's especially if she had finished her Dreaming of You album as well, so actually Selena could've been as successful as like other artists like Beyonce or Jennifer Lopez who would later portray her in the biopic movie or even Shakira. To make a note, if she hadn't been killed she was also working on a Spanish album in support of the tour as well, so she was a busy working at the time and was planning on expanding her horizons on opening more business ventures too since she was a fashion designer and launched a clothing line a year before she died. Of course her English hits dreaming of you and I Could Fall in Love are her biggest hits and there still being played and being remembered like their still no.1 on the adult contemporary stations and mainstream does play them occasionally.

What do you think? Could Selena have been more successful as she was when she was alive? Actually she's my favorite artist of all time. She was a good singer and a good dancer too.
