Pioneer DVR-440HX losing all digital channels

This unit seems to lose all its stored digital channels every few days, coincidentally after adding new channel(s) during the night.
I don't think this is caused by power cuts as mentioned in the operating instructions.
Any ideas please???

One is tempted to ask what channels it thinks are popping up every night. To the best of my knowledge the line up of channels hasn't changed for some time.

So try turning off the "automatically add new channels" feature and see if that has any effect. It could be that screwing up the entire channel list.

Great minds think alike, I have turned off the automatic software update function which also adds new channels.
Although the Pioneer book recommends it be left on.
We will see what happens.....

Hardly any point leaving the auto software update on as they don't transmit updates that regularly. And even less point as the Pioneer is pretty much obsolete now. According to this webpage the last update was in 2007!

So perhaps even less reason to leave it turned on?

According to the manual switching off the update function stops new channels being added.

Turning off the update function didn't help, all channels lost again this morning...

That suggests a problem with the memory used to store the tuning data or the electronics associated with tuning. Or a power supply fault that is glitching the memory. Not unknown for power supplies to start going and causing all sorts of odd things to happen.

It might be cheaper to bin it and buy something new. All depends on if the cause of the problem can be found and if the necessary parts are still available.

My even older (analogue tuner) 420H model is still doing stirling sevice and had recently taken over as my main CD player due to my Mission player from the 80s going into decline.

Spoke to a really helpful chap at Pioneer who offered to send me the latest firmware update on disc, apparently this one is later than the one on the support page.

What is the number lelpep?
I have a 433 and a 530 that may or may not need updating.
