Album covers on iTunes

Can anybody explain to me why when you download a cd of your own to iTunes it shows an album cover in itunes but when you go to your device it does not show. About 60% do.

I am told that there is a way to import album covers but I wouldn't have a clue how to to do it. Is there anybody out there who could tell me the step by step procedure for doing it I would be most obliged

I've not experienced this, as any album cover that shows in iTunes, shows on my iPhone or iPad when I transfer the album over

I do quite often find the album artwork doesn't show in iTunes when I import a cd, but that's easily rectified by saving a copy form Amazon or Play and copy and pasting it under "get info" when you right mouse click the album, when iTunes can't find it

Use google to find a cover or image you want, right click on image, then select copy.
In iTunes select track and right click and select 'Get Info', Select the Artwork tab then in the box right click and select paste. Select next and repeat paste for all tracks in the Album

It's easier to highlight all the tracks on the album at the same time (click track 1, hold down shift and click the last track) then right click select "get info" and paste the image in the artwork box. Saves doing each track individually.

Usually if the music is formatted in the correct way, EG, the album title is correct etc. Highlighting all the tracks in the album, right clicking and selecting "Get Album Art" will work.

Sometimes itunes has problems doing this because of the labels that come with albums. For example, an album name might have "[UK]" at the end of it, or other data that makes an automated search harder to complete.

If you find an image online of the cover and save it somewhere (I usually save it in the same folder as the music files) highlight the tracks again, right click and select "Get Info" from here you can specify an album cover manually by navigating to it.

Really it depends what other devices and how the content was transfered to them. If you can provide a little more info help should be available!

You're not using the iMatch service are you?

When you turn your iPhone on it side in music does it show similar to my pic or just loads of note symbols?

If using iMatch I think it only displays the album art when it's downloaded onto the device, before that it's ghosted.

I tried with iMatch but found it messed up my music library by removing most of my artwork in iTunes, so got rid.

Now I just drag and drop what music I want on my device, gives me a slight feeling of being in control

I've had some problems with iTunes too where every single MP3 I own has artwork but when I transfer them onto my iPod Classic some show up as a blank cover with a musical note.
