Never Let Me Down Again got played on Radio 2 this morning (about 11.45) when Gary Numan picked it as one of his Top 10 songs on the Tracks of My Years feature.

I'm amazed at NLMDA on the radio! I suppose though that those type of features are the only proper chance of Mode songs getting any airplay.

That's excellent

Don't think this is a particularly good performance. I'm not liking the twangy vocals

Dave's voice sounds sooo deep there

I find it quite odd. It's like he doesn't know which voice to use. The regular deep voice or the weird twangy voice

That performance of NLMDA though will never be topped imo!

lol

Haven't heard S-S-S-S but I did hear Dave's collaboration with Soulsavers, but I found it quite average tbh
I have SSSS ,I love it fantastic analogue sounds, but a DM album it isn't.
Love DM seen them twice 1st time was on the Construction tour 2nd was the Playing the Angel tour.

Realised that I didn't have a single Depeche Mode track on my i-Pod so decided to put the albums on one by one. Currently listening to Speak & Spell and I have to say that 'Dreaming Of Me' is such a great track! It's hard to compare it with the band that would go on to make Black Celebration but it's not as awful as I would have expected

Cannot believe i missed this thread...DM have fast became one of my fave bands of all time.

I currently own the 1981-85 Hits album, Black Celebration, Music For The Masses, Violator and am tempted to get Devotion next but brilliant seeing this thread.

Their music is timeless.

I got into them when i read that Madonna used them as a source of influence working with Stu Price on her Confessions On A Dance Floor opus...so i then in 2006 searched a bit about them....i went out of tune with them then all of a sudden they kept getting brought up into conve last year so i learned more about them (i think Foster The people mentioned them etc.) so this past month i bought those albums and am gonna try and find a tour DVD/CD out there 101 has been recommended and continue with their studio albums.....but absolutely astonishing band!

Final show of that tour, contains a lot of their best material and the live versions of Everything Counts and Blasphemous Rumours are excellent

I think it is easier to buy or watch 101 online, I have only ever seen it once in a shop which was HMV in Oxford Street and there was only one copy left

I'd definitely recommend SOFAD. It's got some amazing tracks on there. 'Walking in My Shoes', 'In Your Room' and 'Mercy in You' are my faves from it.

The 101 DVD is definitely one to get. That gig at the Rosebowl was fantastic and they were at their best then imo.

Hahaha! I know what you mean! My brother saw them live back in 2006 and he told me that Dave was really camping it up on stage!

Dave does have some interesting moves, especially in the video for Master and Servant with the blonde mullet.
I like Tora Tora Tora from Speak and Spell
