Just wondering what do fans make of the album Ultra, Exciter and Playing The Angel?

How do they rank for you.
For me, 'Playing The Angel' comes first, then probably 'Ultra' then 'Exciter'.

But it's hard because both 'Ultra' and 'Exciter' only have 2 songs that I like

Precious was definitely used in Charmed. I remember when it played, I was like it's the Mode!!!!

Yeah....i mean not a fan of the later years of Charmed....but i think it was the final season with that bank heist...coincidently i found it the best one of that season too....so i do think it was that one...which was aired in 2006 so it makes sense haha.

Yeah it was s8. It was the opening scenes IIRC, so it was quite nice to see the shots of San Fran with 'Precious' playing over them.

I think it was somebody on DS who recommended I listen to Black Celebration. When I found out who that was I'd like to thank them! A brilliant album that has for me spawned three new favourites; Fly on the Windscreen, Here is the House and Dressed in Black.

Of their recent work, Wrong has to be one of my favourite tracks of the noughties. I'm waiting to get more money when I can get Violator, Speak and Spell and complete Some Great Reward (I have Something to Do, Somebody, People are People and Blasphemous Rumours).

In May I made a video about a party in our halls of residence set to More than a Party (which, indeed it was!). Here it is if you'd like to see it;

Black Celebration is an amazing album indeed. 'Fly On The Windscreen' is one of my faves from it as is 'A Question Of Time', but my top track from it is 'Stripped'.

You won't regret Violator. Their best album imo. 'Policy Of Truth' 'Halo' and 'Clean' being my faves.

Thanks for that. And I notice your name being MsWilder. The same surname as a certain DM band member

Yeah...I love the man way too much, I really do

Lust aside though, he really did work wonders for the band. They were at the top of their game when he was with them imo. They've knocked out some great songs post-Wilder, but I'd still say their best songs were when he was there.

Black Celebration is my favourite of all their albums as the atmosphere is a lot like Disintegration in that each track just builds on that feels on that feeling of claustrophobia and desperation. New Dress was just such an awesome thing to release at that time as well

Music For The Masses I'm not that keen on, despite the fact that my ultimate favourite DM track is on there I only like 4 songs from it.

In general. I've never done a top ten but I'd have Blasphemous Rumours, Everything Counts, Policy Of Truth, Somebody and The Things You Said somewhere in that top ten

I;m genuinely shocked as I think it's a great album despite the appalling Route 66

I presume you've seen "Depeche Mode 87-88 (Sometimes You Do Need Some New Jokes)" and all the other videos they put on the re-releases

I really can't listen to The Things You Said, I thought it was an awful track! I re-listened a few ties to see if it was a grower, but I just haven't warmed to it!

As a Mode fan I feel like I should like it way more, but I just don't I know that 101 was the tour for that very album, but it's just 4 tracks then off for me

I've seen bits of 87-88. Makes it worse that everyone's banging on about what a great album MFTM is

Okay, so now I'm curious... what do you think of Here Is the House?

I love it but I know some Mode fans are more lukewarm about it... to say the least

It's a pretty decent track. I wouldn't skip it, but I haven't got it on my ipod either. It's one of those ones I'd let play but wouldn't stick it on repeat! I'd probably be in the lukewarm brigade too
