Oh no ....but we have been overcast all week until Friday after noon so it restores a balance i feel almost definitely!

Also 81 - 85 has to be one of the finest compilations ever...also as a "cheat way" of owning their earliest material pre-Black Celebration it really works

People are People was such a random album, it's as if they just picked tracks out of a hat.

Not sure it's be worth much tbh, wasn't it available over here in the end. I'm pretty sure my local HMV/Virgin used to stock it (probably as an import).

personally, I prefer The Mute Audio Documents album for that reason (includes B-sides) but only goes as far as the SGR album.

Whilst I agree I think the album works, certainly I think it's a great cover

Get The Balance Right is an underrated song, I don't think Shake The Disease is on any of the albums either

Shake The Disease was released to promote the Depeche Mode The Singles 81-85 album I believe.

Found a great blog about DM releases here if anyone is interested.

Great blog... I take it the writer isn't a fan of the Nintendo-tastic 'Meaning of Love'

In my view the two best venues in London, in terms of acoustics, are the Albert Hall and the Roundhouse!

I was quite surprised that they got so many bad reviews back then like for Master And Servant - 'what do you expect from a lame bunch of d*ckheads?'

"Leather has a certain macho appeal, but that isn’t everything to me. A black leather jacket and trousers isn’t everything either. A lot of my favourite pieces of leather are parts of bondage gear… straps that are actually more feminine than macho.

"I like to dress up in women’s clothes. That doesn’t make me a transvestite and it doesn’t mean I’m "turned on" by wearing them but, er, effeminate clothes do appeal to me. I like the anti-macho combination of jacket and trousers with women’s clothes. It disorientates people.

"I got into leather gradually. I started wearing a leather mini skirt over trousers until I felt confident enough to wear a skirt and suspenders and it wouldn’t bother me anymore than wearing full make-up."

Oh, Martin!

He used to get really huffy when people assumed he was gay because of the way he dressed Alan's also been quoted as saying he was never comfortable when Martin dressed up like in women's clothing. Gore is definitely an odd one...
