Thank you again Graham,
I needed to print that, to keep near as I work through it.

I wonder if such encyclopaedic descriptions should be indexed in a BOOKCASE PART OF the FORUM ?
So that others can also benefit later.

I have found the Forum search engine is not nearly as good as Googling outside the forum & being directed back.
Of course that lets one search "other" unmentionable places !

This problem started on my Humax this morning. When I selected the media option on the remote, it showed the series folders as (0) plus three items that had recorded that morning, everything else was missing. I rebooted the unit, this took an age and then, low and behold, everything had gone. HD shows as 39% used 189 GB. I connected via Raydons and can see everything listed. While connected to laptop, I called up media on the box and everything was back. it appears to be random and I suspect that the hard drive may be failing or an index file(s) is missing. It is still under guarantee so as I have a lot of stuff I want to keep, will need to export to my USB drive, the only trouble is that it's taking ages to copy across, (when the things working okay.) Also get an error if I try to delete anything. Not sure how to use the FTP option in Raydons software, so might take a chance on removing the drive and put it in a caddy on main PC and copy to 1Terrabyte disk. I suspect I will need to remove the Raydons software before I contact Humax to see about a replacement or a new drive, or contact Argoos where I got it from. Suggestions welcome.

I swapped the offending HDD & the problem has not recurred.
In my case the HDD was a 2TB replacement on which I had kept the partition dealing with EPG the same size as on the original 320GB HDD.
Sometime I will eliminate that possibility, after copying it all over. Copying is so slow that I have put off doing that.
However if your drive an original Humax, unchanged. If it is I could expect that changing the partition sixe would not help.

Just to clarify & remove a typo:==
In the case of your original drive, it does seem to have failed. & if it follows the pattern of my drive's failure, it will only get worse.
In my case with a larger substitution drive, your experience suggests that my drive is faulty & the EPG partition size was a, self inflicted,red herring. So thanks, Grandad56.
We both seem to have a warranty claim possibility.

Yes. I agree david, just need to copy the stuff on the drive, it seems to be recording okay and displaying the contents, not sure how long before it starts playing up again. Can't understand why the drive reads through the browser with Raydons software ?

Once have copied across to PC will remove Raydons and flash back to original and contact Humax. I expect I have to take it back to Argos, but not until Humax gives say so.

Just an update, I managed to copy across the recordings I wanted to save, less of course the files larger than 4Gb. Then formatted the drive. So am going to see how long before it starts playing up again. I might still try and arrange a repair/replacement, but not at the minute as recuperating after having a stent fitted. Maybe next week. Will update as and when.
