I have always wondered this but are 0800 numbers free to call from a mobile?

If it makes any difference, I'm on o2.

This is due to change but it could take a while.

GiffGaff the o2 owned virtual network does not charge for 0800 or any other free number ranges.

it's odd is it not.

I rang the AA on either a 0800, or 0845 number - and it didn't even count as my normal minutes. It was charged extra.

same with texting the BBC 85058 (or whatever it is). That wasn't a "free" text either.

Try reporting a minor crime incident to 101.

The police certainly don't seem to want to help us them!

0845 is a premium rate number.
0800 from most mobiles are charged at local rate and not included in minutes.

It's 15p flat rate however long to call is, on mobile or on landline.

Use 0800 Buster

Dial normal landline number and it forwards you to the 0800 or 0808 & 0500 number for free!

http://www.0800buster.co.uk/

No registration or set-up is necessary, and the service is completely free*. Just dial 01209 63 0800, enter the full free-phone number you want to call at the prompt, then press #—it’s that simple!
