Also I wonder how they can find a buyer when they have axed all the big stores?
Bigger store = bigger rent/overheads... Glad to hear my local (Rushmere, Craigavon) has survived

I wondered the same thing.

There seems to be a lot of the ones in big shopping centres too, where to the layman like me, you would have thought business would be better than the smaller locations.

Take Lakeside for example, both closed according to the list above. Interesting to close both rather than say to themselves we'll keep one, then shut the other, you'd think most of the customers from the other store would go down to the other store...
If they are making a loss you can't expect the administrator to keep them open, that defys logic. A loss is a loss. Big shops would have more overheads.

Well I see some Games closed but some of the Game Station on the high street areas closed.

Maybe they will be rebranded Game by a new owner? I know the rents are higher but if the company is to be viable under a new owner they need prime units.

If shopping malls were not as greedy then more stores would last. I'm sure Peacocks wanted to keep some stores or reopen some but it was depending on lower rents.

Sad to see so many local Game shops closing. The Canterbury Game shop was one of my favourites when Folkestone didn't have one.

It seems that everyone will have to come to Folkestone.
Not unless they come to Thanet as at the moment Game at Westwood Cross is still here.

Weird I always thought Game and Gamestation were big rivals as there is a Game and Gamestation not 30 steps from each other in Norwich.
They used to be until Game got greedy and bought Gamestation.

I usually walk in there and just end up walking out again and complain to myself about the prices.
Unless theres any further announcements it looks like Gamestation could be staying at Ramsgate too.

Oh bugger, I prefered going there than Game.
Oh well there's always Harbour Street for trade-ins.

If Game does go then we've still got Smyths, HMV at a push, then Tesco and Asda.

I'm surprised somebody like Comet has not came in and bought the profitable Game shops and somebody else for the Game Station brand. Even 50 independent Game Station shops would be better under new ownership than Game.

From a business point of view looks like Game will last. For customer service and experience most would prefer Game Station to stick around.

Concerning Norwich stores there are 2, one in St Stephens and the other near Castle Mall shopping Centre.

I feel sorry for the staff. I went into the store near the Mall on Saturday and the look on the managements faces said it all, and the store although clean had the look of it not lasting much longer.
The one opposite castle mall gave me some shit about the Kinect not working on a old system. It will seem weird not being their anymore. Maybe they could rebring back argos to this store.

I'm over in Margate myself and I preferred going to Ramsgate gamestation.

Margate GS went two years ago so we've all lost out here...

If they all go it leaves no independent computer game stores on the high street.

Very surprised that Liverpool Lord Street is staying when there is another game shop literally next door I think, and a HMV a few doors away.

From reading that list it looks like all 3 Game stores in Glasgow City Centre have all been closed & they have closed 1 Gamestation store. So in the Glasgow City Centre area that just leaves the Gamestation store in Union Street & the Game store in the St Enoch Centre still trading unless they end up on the list. There's also the Game store in Silverburn.

Odd how they shut GAME down in Southgate Bath, and kept Gamestation in Westgate street open, as the GAME store is in a new store, and is on the main drag.

thanks

im in falkirk
looks like my game store is closing, but gamestation isnt on list so maybe that will remain open

which tbh.. is kinda strange ...the game store is in the shopping centre and is way busier than the gamestation out on high street , guess the rent is cheaper out of the shopping centre
